I just think it's the undertone that it "sucks"..but then again this feels like the excuse people give when they suck at XIV's content. I do agree, it's not hard at all to do and I'm a "returning player prior to the ilvl system being intact" and even I was able to keep up on this playing extremely casually.
There's no excuses other than not having the help I guess if you want to do it fast.
the terms are essentially synonymous. Boring content sucks. Any content that you do 100 times over sucks because it gets repetitive and boring. Grinding Uptala's for HMP when VW event was on got boring after my 100th pop. Doing Silver Sea and Arrapago got boring after the 20th run. Anything that you're doing repetitively gets boring and sucks, and that applies to the real world too.
I actually didn't even say that! I said doing it dozens of times a month bored me, and if somebody else wanted to soldier through to get more capes (in practice, one more every two months, Jesus), they are perfectly welcome to do that.
To be honest, I think the whole thing is pretty phoned in and letting the amazing rewards snow you into thinking this is a bright future is pretty prole, but that's on somebody else.
And what are you doing in FFXI thats not repetitive or boring?
I mix it up.
Still, is that really the hill you want to die on here?
So you "mix it up" with a bunch of other boring repetitive activities (once that you didnt name of course, because theyre all boring and repetitive), but cant add ambuscade to the list of boring activities that you mix up because "reasons".
Did i miss anything?
Fighting VD Tenzen 1000 times is so fun, every 1000 fights is completely different and its like a whole new experience...not
Is Savlage a whole new experience every time? Oh, you might have to deviate from your route ever so slightly because pathos removal decided to not play nice.
Is farm Sang Buya 1000 times for aug items not repetitive and boring?
You're full of shit and trying to justify your dislike for Ambuscade as "its boring and repetitive" when you could just say "I dont like it" because every fucking thing in this game (and life) is repetitive and boring when you do it over and over and over and over (there are a notable few exceptions, like counting 100$ bills over and over). Just say "I dont like it, it doesnt appeal to me" and no one questions anything, but when you form an opinion of "its boring and repetitive" (via "a change of scenery"), then others start to question your opinion when this is no different than any other grind in the game.
Not to mention, you know absolutely nothing about how Gallantry will work, and yet you're acting like its gods gift against the grind of Ambuscade...yet you know next to nothing about it lol. You seem to think that Gallantry will save you from the grind of getting your Sulevia body, and yet the dev post said Gallantry will reset, and you have NO IDEA how much Gallantry the body will cost next month. All they said is "you could do so by exchanging your points at a lower amount than the amount of Hallmarks you need at the moment", and gave no values. "A lower amount" could still be 10k HN. WHO KNOWS.
I, uh, I think you should take a step back and think about what you're having a meltdown over.
ya this is boring and repetitive

needs additional title "Ambuscade white knight"
Yeah because the same salvage area over and over isnt boring and repetitive, and doing uptala over and over isnt boring and repetitive (in fact its worse since it is artificially drawn out via a necessary proc system for drops), or killing thousands upon thousands of colibri wasnt boring and repetitive....nope, those and many more boring and repetitive events (dynamis, skirmish, farming the corse/bugard in reisen, etc) were all fine but killing sombra dragon over and over is clearly boring and repetitive.
Makes perfect sense and im clearly just white knighting.
i agree with nin to some degree. i chew myself the first days through ambuscade till im done. what makes it so bad in my eyes, is that i spent more time zoneing around then actually killing shits. thats what makes ambuscade very very annyoing. zoneing 5min for s 2 min fight
honestly instead of setting a roe for entering, they should have given you a free entrance per day and made additional entrance cost sparks
I think forcing people to travel for RoE was their attempt to reduce the amount of people queueing for entry at the same time.
Anyway, as annoying as Ambuscade may be (it's subjective, but I reckon it can be annoying for someone) at least it's an annoyance you can be done quick if you so wish and move your focus to the next thing.
Wish I could say the same for several other things in game, personally.
If there wasn't so much inherent congestion surrounding ambuscade, it wouldn't be as annoying as it is. You have to fight half the sever to get into the zone for a 2-5 min fight and then fight the other half for the mobs to get a new KI. Depending on your server and play time this can be really obnoxious. If it's JP prime time you pretty much just have to do something else. It's also annoying to get so few points per run when there's already purchasing caps. I suppose they wanted to make sure no one could buy every single item to cap and flood the market but it's still dumb. Getting more points per run, a total limit on points you could earn and no caps on items might have been better. i.e. cap of 50k and you can spend it all on HMP or w/e. I realize some people get more than 50k a month. It was just a random example.
That way people that spam it hardcore can cap out faster and be done and everyone that doesn't want to can still have a good shot at getting what they want. Congestion would die down as the month went on as only weekend warriors and the less inclined to spam would still be trying to enter. I doubt SE will ever do something like that but it's just my thoughts on improving the system somewhat.
SE should just move the damn battlefields to open field areas like Voidwatch. Lore wise, they can just have the taru say some shit like "omg Abjhalis's creatures escaped Legion and now they're running rampant all around Vana'diel, you have to stop them". As far as putting them out in the world, just literally name them all "Abjhalis's Monster"...the precedent is already there with Maze Lurkers. As far as its stats and what not, who cares? They're gonna have to alter the main ones anyways, and from there they can just copy/paste the data for the other zones. Its not that hard, and can be done in notepad (I'd hope their game isnt coded in notepad lol)
I wonder how many people have actually been doing VW outside of the event where all lights were maxed out? Cause right now, I'm pretty sure " the rate at which items such as Heavy Metal Plates and other materials are obtained" is solely tied to Ambuscade right now.Voidwatch (2016/5/6)
Can you adjust the recharge time for Voidstones?
Currently, we are not planning on adjusting this.
The replenish rate of Voidstones is tied to the rate at which items such as Heavy Metal Plates and other materials are obtained, and this is related to the speed at which an Empyrean Weapon can be created. If we were to think about making adjustments to one aspect, it would require us to also require us looking at the other aspects of this equation. After these changes, it is unlikely the end results would be much different than what they are like before such an adjustment.
Well, I made about 5M off of selling voiddust last campaign, so at least some people are being limited by stones.
Could also be that they just ran out of stock though. I went through 1500 stones in about a week and a half trying to get one char a Mala then doing 2600 HMP worth of Uptala over 3 chars, and I wasnt a big fan of VW when it first came out. By the time SE fixed up VW, I had so many stones banked.
I wish I had you guys' patience. Or is it motivation? Or something else entirely? Whatever, I wish I had that.
