Storage has gotten much cheaper since launch, even if character data has increased.
I assume the reason they don't make any changes to the game's backbone is because it's really hard to understand what the original team did and they're afraid of breaking stuff. If they could just bump up the maximum packet size, though, that would really be a pretty huge boon to the game. The theoretical limit of a UDP packet size is ~64KB. Based on the wiresharking I was doing yesterday, bringing us from ~1.25KB to 4.25KB would probably resolve the game's latency issues when zoning or in many-target situations. I do not think it would necessarily cost them any more bandwidth/month, but I'm sure there would be some technical adjustments necessary and not just changing a constant, because nothing is ever easy in old code. This could also all be an artefact of the fact that they may still be using the PS2 dev kit to make the game.
I hope thats true!
Woah that would be something substantial if that was the case. Here's hoping!
SoA2? Whaat?!
But what would that even mean. Not like they can even make another expansion. So just harder soa content?
Purely speculation, but it could just be a release of the previously cut content from the original SoA. Tartarus and the like. I'm highly doubtful that's legit, as that seems like far more work than what their current team has been doing as of late. I'm much more hopeful for Ambuscade augmenting, as that would be far simpler.
Definitely possible, but I just have my reservations. Don't want to get my hopes up without something more substantial.
If true you know the aug items to do that will be from gallantry and cost 5k each and i will want to scrape my eyes out with a spoon.
Which JP thread/article are you referring to for this info?
Fuck them and their NQ/HQ expensive Animator.
Once they acknowledge that yes, Divinator's stats are too low, it would've been too much of a work to SIMPLY BLOODY UPDATE THAT, right?
Sigh...
Yes, because that would go completely against their gearing paradigm for SoA.
You mean their gearing paradigm post SoA.
I'm against creating such player divide in general, but even more so when it comes to vital instruments to play your job, and especially even more when they acknowledge something is wrong and has to be fixed.
Now we gonna have HQ and NQ pets for Puppetmaster, which is something new for the job, and yai spending 500 mils for the HQ one, supposing your lucky enough to find one.
Guess I'm too much of a e-communist but I liked the single versione R/E non craftable model much much much much better.
No, their SoA paradigm. When the weapons and gear near the beginning of SoA started to fall behind due to power creep, did they just upgrade that equipment for free? No, they introduced completely new equipment from more recent content for you to use instead. The Animator and Seraphicaller are nothing more than pieces of gear that improves your pet, so if you want it to keep up with other power creep, then they believe it should come from newer content. SE isn't completely consistent with this, but it's explicitly their goal, and they've been relatively consistent implementing it.
If you don't want to buy the HQ, then get the NQ.
The base ilvl 119 stats haven't changed thou (defense, attributes, eva/meva, combat skills outside of RMEA) which is what people were complaining the automatons being shafted on, that's not a new powercreep thing.
Actually, the stat vomit on 119 gear has been creeping up over time, on the whole. Compare the stat vomit on say, Xaddi Mail to Valorous Mail:
142 Defense, 83 HP, 35 MP, 24 STR, 14 DEX, 24 VIT, 16 AGI, 16 INT, 16 MND, 16 CHR, 41 evasion, 48 magic evasion, 4 MDB
146 Defense, 61 HP, 0 MP, 29 STR, 25 DEX, 29 VIT, 20 AGI, 20 INT, 20 MND, 20 CHR, 44 evasion, 59 magic evasion, 4 MDB
Other than HP and MP, Valorous's stat vomit is noticeably higher. Over five pieces, this becomes quite significant.
