The stats on xaddi aren't that much lower because it's old, they're lower because augmentable gear had lower stats back than. Look at the r/ex equivalents from delve up to everything including pre-reis escha gear, they have the same ilvl stat budget, although better allocated for the most part on the later stuff: less hp/mp, less melee stats on mage gear, etc.

It isn't until new abjurations + reis armor that you see an actual small increase, which isn't what I would call 'creeping up over time', as it's just one jump. And it's not what people are complaining about with automatons, which fell behind players when ilvl armor was first implemented.

I poked my head into a couple of the top General Discussion threads in the JP OF but I don't recall seeing anything similar. Possible I missed something. If someone can point me in a direction of where these rumors might be coming from that'd be nice.

Some exceptions here and there, sure.
But the return of useful craftable stuff is pretty recent and arrived with RoV, not SoA.
99% of the stuff from SoA was R/E stuff you could either get from BCs, Delve, Incursion, AF upgrades or whatever else.

My problen is not much that they aren't upgrading Divinators (even though yes, it would be cool if they did, especially after publically saying "we admit something is wrong" i.e. "it's our fault") but in the end it's not a big deal.
The big deal for me is that now there's gonna be a new cool animator that's gonna be incredibly expensive. 30 people in the world will manage to get a cool HQ version and everybody else is gonna be stuck with the NQ, creating further player divide which I reckon is liked by some people, especially in communities like this, but I personally dislike it.
It's ok to a certain degree but I find it especially bad when it happens on a "core tool" of a job like Animator is for PUP.
As a matter of fact, it's the first time it happens.

    Agree with Sechs here.

PUP animators have always been something you earned through content. I also agree that I don't like this direction for PUP either. I only hope that the craft is tier 1 HQ and not tier 0. I know, not likely...

The gear paradigm we're talking about is unconnected to whether they're crafted or not. I'm not arguing that it had to be crafted, I'm arguing why SE was not willing to just buff it, as you suggested, because it would create, in their minds, gear that is too strong for the content that it came from. The only time SE ever buffed gear in the SoA+ era is when they thought the gear was too weak for the content it came from, not merely when the content itself became obsoleted (to a degree).

That's partially understandable but again in my view the non buffing thing is not a big deal in the end, I'm more concerned by the rest =/

Eminent was technically through content. Although, I honestly see both as "freebies". I should have been clearer in my statement.

We haven't had to rely on crafters for an integral piece to our job, the animator, before. Is what I should have said.

Didn't have to rely on crafters or huge amount of gil (please let's not talk about people mercing animators, it's a different thing).
And, most of all, there was no "extremely rare" HQ version of animators. Each had a single version and that was it, period. It was a basic thing to be looking for, it might have been a bit hard for some casual players, but it was moderately accessible to manage to obtain a Divinator, and it became easier and easier over time. It's good design, doesn't create a "divide" between players.

Yes I understand some people want that "very rare item to be idling in to set you apart from a bunch of other plebs". I don't like it, but I can understand it.
But we already have that for a lot of items and likely more to come.
Can we please leave animators out of this paradigm, just them pretty please?

    That was my main point.

Why buff an old piece of gear when they could just add something new to try to get us to buy more wardrobes out of necessity?

My friend who reads Japanese says there's no such posts about augmenting Ambuscade armor sets or SoA2 and there hasn't been. Best guess aside from random rumor is someone simply asking a question about such things.

Honestly, PUP animators shouldn't even exist. They're a weird carryover from when SE had no idea what to do with the job and now they just take up inventory space. I guess they wanted it to be an additional layer of automaton behavior customization, which we didn't see until Divinator II 9 years later, but even then that could've been a JA/pet command.

I feel similarly about GEO bells. They could easily be fluff KIs like SCH grimoire and GEO luopan.

It also pointlessly hurts pup since they can't use stat ammos like other classes would.

tbh all pet jobs are horribly designed in FFXI, and allways will be horribly designed. This starts allready in the core concept of buffs not applying to pets and master gear that doesnt reflect/transfer over to the pet in some fashion.

The only exception is GEO, because our "pets" basicly just have to stand there and be awesome. But even GEO has horrible flaws as soon as the meta game changes from staying staticly on the ground to super neo-hyper-nyzul isle running around.

I agree with all the things you've been saying about Animators, Pet Jobs in general etc, but that's kinda beyond the point and regardless, releasing an NQ/HQ expensive crafted Animator model doesn't solve any of those issue, if anything it makes things even worse, sigh

Also did I miss some important announcement? Not getting Spira's post at all
