It's probably because my focuses have shifted, but any time an LS member has an old friend attend and we go do some old content I just try enjoying it. With the way the game is now, doing "relevant" content is an endless gear grind all the same anyway so I just want to enjoy doing stuff with my LS buddies. If I didn't have the LS I have (with a friend in it I've played with a long time now) I probably would've cancelled a while ago.
Wish more people would realize this. Every time content comes out people are complaining about how you can't casually get all the gear in a relatively timely manner (though admittedly omen is much worse grind and poorly balanced between drops and cards) and I'm like yeah that's the point. Endless grinding
I would have little to no issue with Omen in its current state if it didn't lock you to getting cards on only your current job and/or if the exchange rate wasn't so ass.
I know what you are saying, and I agree that it is a rather high probability possibility. I also think that the devs tend to take the safer route when it comes to stuff like this and focus on "adding" to events for campaign purposes rather than "changing". Changing the way something works has a higher chance of introducing bugs which could possibly leak out and linger even when the campaign ends after all. Adding something might have bugs, but are more likely to be confined.
I'd absolutely love to see a "better aug" campaign for SR, but think the odds of getting "extra equip chance" or even a "reroll" menu option would be considerably higher given their history.
They added a chocobo dig campaign...
How bout just letting me pay extra Bayld and I get to pick at least one of the three opponents. Ingrid, why u run away?

Again, we don't know the exact details of how the SR augment system works, but we know it's not completely random like most other random augment systems.
Those systems have a range, and then a "dice" rolls and a number is taken within that min/max range.
For SR it's different, augments come from a table of set ones.
It's like for every SR item there's like, what, 30 different versions, each with a different augment ranging from very low values to perf ones.
It's completely static. There's still a dice that rolls, but it's not the augment that gets picked up, rather which of the pre-existing items you get in your table.
If there are 30 items (number is an example) making the dice roll from say 15 to 30 instead of 1 to 30 can't be too hard?
Or even allow you some degree of control on the enemies you fight can't be too hard, and would indirectly grant you more chances to see the items you want.
Event is so old now it can't be that bad to allow something like this to players? /sigh
Just to be sure, that was a reply to Nya, right?
I think it is more like 10 versions, but otherwise yes.
Absolutely yeah, why?
@Byrth
The "30" I put in there was just an example, could be more like 10 just like you said.
Either way they're unique and different from any other augment system in game.
If anybody did SR as much as I did I'm sure they noticed the amount of times you get the SAME exact identical combination of augments (non perfect) on the same item.
I did over a hundred SR runs at the start of the year and I'm pretty sure that I've never seen more than 5 (maybe 6?) aug patterns for any particular item. I could be wrong and just kept getting the same rolls repeatedly, but I'm positive that the potential augment tiers are extremely limited. Given the numbers that I remember seeing, I don't think the augment tiers are actually weighted or anything, so the concept of removing part of the range does sound feasible. I just don't see SE devs doing anything like that though due to the risks of "change" vs "addition". It would be far safer for them to add a bonus item drop than to change the way that the current system works in any way. Changing something risks breaking it while adding to something would be far less likely to cause problems.
Just look at their responses on their refusal to add an extra Ambuscade NPC to Selbina or allow multiple augment items to be traded at once.. Most of their excuses boil down to "Menus are more complicated than you think and we don't have the time/manpower to add/alter what has been implemented." Vagary uses a dynamically generated menu which deals with randomly generated items for the reward system, that sounds like it would give them nightmares if they were to touch it.
I've got a full set of max aug gear from there on my main account other than the gear that I actually want, so yeah.... Anything that could help me complete my collection would be much appreciated. lol orz
From POL:
Sounds like more new gear incoming to give crafters something other than HQ cursed gear to make money off of. Hope the new recipes don't require the 1.1mil vendor mats, but seems likely to me. ~_~;;;The next version update is scheduled for mid-January.
Get your hands on all-new rewards from Omen and new synthesis recipes utilizing those materials.
Of course, Ambuscade is going to receive its monthly facelift!
Ambuscade's going to be Flan(probably V2) & Lamia(probably V1).
I wonder if they are already starting relic armor upgrades. Hopefully they are a lot of fixes coming to make this event actually enjoyable (i.e condense all job cards into just simple cards).
It specifically/explicitly states "synthesis recipes", so rather unlikely it's much else besides that. I won't be expecting any possible relic/empy upgrades until March/April at the soonest because it would not make sense to increase our options too quickly :/
The devs themselves seemed really into the job-specific reward design, so even more unlikely that we'll see any sort of shortcut for card farming like universal cards for at least a year IMO.
Hahahahahahahahahaahahhaa. No.
But I'm sure eventually something will happen with time, make cards drop more or change the 10:1 exchange rate to something like 3:1
Don't expect any change before february though, if not later.
As for Relic I'm pretty sure that's the next step but again I wouldn't expect anything before april. I wouldn't even be sure they're gonna expand Omen for Relic and Empy, they could create something completely different.
Given the rate at which it takes to make this stuff it's fairly clear they expected just making af to take us a few months to the rest of the year at least. No need at all for them to make relic for quite awhile
Yeah, writing was kinda on the wall with the "take forever to max a job" angle with JPs. This is pretty much just a continuation of that. :/
Year end wrap up posted by Matsui on the 28th:
Matsui's Rambling
Some possibly passable translation of the stuff to come:
Ambuscade
* new enemies/rewards next year
Master Trial
* they have some new ones planned
"Ultimate" Crafter Equipment
* Expect in spring 2017
AA Trusts
* still coming
Adoulin additions
* bit more to come, some sort of worthwhile reward involved
Crystal Storage
* working on alternative to Emphemeral Moogles to be more convenient / allow more than one type traded at a time
Sounds like maybe no VanaFes this year, but they want to do something since it's a big deal to hit the 15th anniversary
