I've not been entirely tuned to the dev notes, but have they said anything regarding server merges over the past three months? Or are they afraid that having server populations of above 1k would break their 'layering' instance code?

It would cause a lot of issues with battlefield congestion, I'd assume they would fix that before making any merges. My servers regularly above 1k anyways, well above 1.5k at jp prime.

When they'll release new delve zones (is it going to happen, at this point?) I'm pretty sure it will be above 119 cap.

Why not march? But yeah April seems more likely. Possibly before new delve? Just saying since they are making it so everyone will easily be able to get several different 119s for each job in each slot probably going higher soonish

I must have missed the memo but I tried to head to that gate in Kamir Drifts and now there's a large ass rock blocking the path to it now. I guess SE's way of saying, Yeah we'll move this when we're done with the zone.

the portal? i seem to remember being able to reach it. Its via a "1 way route" that involves a bunch of small cliffs. west of waypoint 4 iirc

Server merges would only be a temporary fix, FFXI is too old to attract new players and the subscription keeps them rather away, while too much drastic changes drive the old players away, albeit they are very good... I never thought I'd say this, because i really hate the idea myself but... the only way for FFXI at some point to keep going is to go free to play :/ and get in some fresh new blood and old blood that has left.

Yeah there's a rock in the path now...

Halving the sub right now would be another way to draw in new people if they really wanna hold onto making money with this game, $12 for an animated background is a little high imo.

the FFXI subs were pretty much funding XIV development while FFXIV was free, is what I was saying.

Not a horrible idea. I might re-sub to ffxi in this scenario.

Can agree with this, but I also think XI going F2P would be wise, too. I know this tends to evoke irrational auto-hate from people, but I'm also of the mind XI was paying for XIV since ToAU, thus suffering from it one way or another. Still, XI does need to try and get with the times on some features, particularly LFG tools even if cross-server stuff is impossible.
