Yes. I'm going to be pretty gimp in the first place because I don't have a shield, so I figured I should model myself after a character that would make (most) people hate me even more when they found out.

Honest question: Did he say that when CT was still going to be out on release? If so it's understandable.
Did they ever even say why CT wasn't ready? This is probably what fucked everything up (though obviously since I didn't play CT, I can only guess how much time it would have taken up).
I have two characters now for two reasons, and that is to do coil as different jobs and to also switch between SMN and SCH without having to get seals everytime.
2 is enough for me tho![]()
I don't see how it takes 3 months to retune something and make it less difficult, I also don't see a reason to make something easier in a game where everythings already easier than normal mode WOW raids from 2006.
Either way you shouldn't state to your entire playerbase the game starts at the level cap then have the least amount of content at the level cap. That's like advertising "play any job on a single character!" as a main defining/selling feature in the game then making that essentially impossible at the level cap...oh.
Roughly 95% of this thread agrees with you. There are two dissidents, but then again, there are always those two dissidents. Yoshi -did- say the game begins at end-game: whether he was just making a PR bluff to attract subs from WoW is something that's left to the individual, but I haven't seen much evidence to the contrary thus far.
This is the second time you've made this false assertion. There is more content for LV50s than there is for any other level range, and it's not even close. Is there some other level where you are collecting usable, relevant gear with a 40-level iLVL range? Were you farming dungeons for tokens at LV20?
I think I can say without too much uncertainty that you spent, at most, a few hours completing the content for any other level range and several weeks completing the content for LV50. That is, unless you had coil 1-4 on farm status in full DL with NQ relics?
If you think "95%" of this thread agrees that the game is so threadbare of endgame content that multiple characters are needed to compensate, your reading comprehension (or math acumen) is full of more wishful thinking than expected. 95% of this thread does not agree that it is "essentially impossible" to play this game with one character.
Actually, if my memory serves me correctly, it was in response to people saying leveling was too quick. Anyway, Captain Hindsight, all that stuff. You'd think he was Cthulu fucking Hitler the way some of you are carrying on.Yoshi -did- say the game begins at end-game: whether he was just making a PR bluff to attract subs from WoW is something that's left to the individual, but I haven't seen much evidence to the contrary thus far.
There was a naked galka with a lv1 dagger gla going for Lv50 without doing but spamming flash in fates, it didn't take him too long to get lv50 though. (I saw him around lv 30 ranges, and at Lv50ranges, so probably took him about 3 days to go lv 25ish -> 50, unsure because I left after I hit lv 50 and he was like 45 at the time when I was lv50)
I was kind of disappointed in a way you can lvl everything so fst (especially crafts) but then again, it was good to actually get the stuff done!
That's your stupid and illogical grinding masochist side conflicting with your rational side. For most people, we'd hope the logical side wins, but with you its irrelevant because you wind up capping everything anyway. If it takes slightly less time, that's just more free fapping time for you, so no real gain or loss one way or another. Gulk's gonna max everything out in every game, every time. Whether it takes 3 months or 3 years means little if you legitimately accomplish the same thing every time.
I was considering doing this so that I could cap two classes per week and wouldnt have to worry about armor space, but in the end it was too much of a pain. I hate that you cant send mail to your alt, and also you cant socket your own materia unless you re-lvl a bunch of crafting professions x3
I did it a while back specifically for an alt coil group, it was a painful week but I've had a lv 50 monk alt in Coil for 3 weeks now and all I do is login to do Coil + 5 runs of WP to cap myth and never login again. It's nice cause I don't have that myth spending dilemma with my main and I can extend the content a bit because I get to do coil 2 nights a week instead of 1-5 in 1.5hr and nothing left to do :S
Make no mistakes though, it was a lot of work to get a fresh 50 Coil ready etc, having to do all the story dungeons and shit. I had a set group going to 50 on my main so I never had these horrible dungeon experiences but I had them on my alt...dungeons were the most frustrating part of the whole deal.
Small bump but:
for people who want to have 2 accounts (not 2 chars on the same account), when SE said you can use 2 accounts simultaneously, does that mean opening up another FFXIV via launcher and just logging into the other account? I kinda want a 2nd account, but only want to use 1 computer.
I can open 2 instances of FFXIV on my PC and play with 2 different accounts no problem. I tried to open a 3rd instance but it crashes so not sure if it's my PC or just the limit.
For anyone that does plan on leveling another character to gear with Myth tomes, you don't even need to finish the main story to start collecting on Myth tomes at least. Get Airship pass -> grind to 50 -> unlock WP -> tome farm. The best weapon you'd be able to get though would be a crafted ilvl 70 weapon since the final GC rank/Primals (and thus relic) require the completion of the main story.
There's actually a work around for this that makes it so you can add yourself to your own friends list.
From the official forums (I shit you not. Fucking blew my mind to find it there):
They don't mention this, but you will need your characters to be in the same FC/LS so that you can see them to send an invite, since search functions won't work otherwise.Step 1: Log on character A and log out inside of an instance (it will appear as online and inside the instance even after you log out)
Step 2: Log on character B and send character A a friend invite.
Step 3: Log on character A and accept the invite
Congratulations you can now mail things to your alts.
I created an LS for it from my wife's account, then invited all of my alts to it. After that I ran a quick instance and logged out at the end of it. I cycled through my alts, each sending my main a friend request. Logged to my main to accept them all, and now I can mail items to myself.
Wait, it actually works to do that 3 step thing to mail stuff to alts, but SE REFUSES to add a function to mail items to our alts? So we're able to through an obscure way, so the technology exists, and the server and game is set up a way to, they just refuse to code it to make it easier to do?

Someone needs to compile a list of artificial barriers SE has put in place and refuses to change, yet players have found workarounds to bypass these barriers.
