Easy/cheap last minute Halloween costume ideas?

So Halloween parties are coming up this week. I am both broke and unimaginative, so I could use some help/suggestions on cheap costumes. Not looking for a hell of a lot of detail, just something that I can wear to a costume party and not be that one asshole that didn't even attempt to wear a costume. Help?

could always go as a ghost. sheet over your head. similarly, you could take an extra pair of pants, stick it on your head, and go as a congressman. bonus points for not wearing pants on your legs, score multiplier if you use a suit. wear a suit, slick back your hair, stuff a pillowcase full of monopoly money, and stick a cigar in your mouth. instant wall street banker. bonus points if the pillowcase says something like "Nacho Money" or some other (better) snarky pun, multiplier if you're fat or stuff a pillow in your shirt. dress as santa, act like you have alzheimers and think its christmas. bonus for handing out presents, multiplier if you have friends dress as elves trying to get you to go back to the north pole. also bonus for having a pet as a reindeer.


some are kinda elaborate, but lots of people have suits and santa costumes, so it seems likely you'll have one or the other. if you're a woman.. well, mrs. claus wouldn't be funny, since she doesn't deliver the presents, but banker and congresswoman would work fine with similar business attire. or you could always just borrow some clothes and play a man. Or ghost it up.

Check out any local flea markets or thrift shops near you. Might find a used costume or parts of an old costume for less than 5 bucks.

Ok costume ideas. It depends on what supplies you have laying around the house but there are different things you can do with cardboard and foil to make pyramid head. Over-sized suits with shoulder pads can be made into zoot suit for an old school gangster look. Scarecrow is pretty easy, just get loose fitting clothing like old jeans and plaid shirt. Tie off at the limb points like the ankles wrists and waist with oversized belt to hold in the stuffing. Stuff with extra clothes and use straw or dried grass as the outer stuffing so that it sticks out[flammable!]. A tea stained pillowcase for the hood under a strawhat. You would stuff the hood too with enough space to breathe of course. You can put black dress socks or pantyhose over the eye slots so you can still see but have blank or large eyes. Use cardboard shaped into a cone for the nose. Those were mostly male-ish kind of costumes but could be uni-sex.

Grab a cylindrical concrete form from lowes or Home Depot. It's cardboard and cheap. Cut it in half and spray paint it silver or gold. Wrap it back around yourself with straps. Boom, you're a stripper pole for less than an Andrew Jackson. Bitches can grind on you all night.
