It could be area thing. As I said, I think I've only lived in one apt in cali where they didn't hire a professional. Some will just do wear and tear, some had it written in the lease and charged you. It's always good to find out if they are hiring one, because fuck if I am going to do above and beyond cleaning when it isn't going to matter anyway.
I always deduct the amount of the deposit from the last months rent. But i always left the unit cleaner than when i moved in so...
Small update. The new company my apt is owned by are fucking evil with fees.
If I transfer:
I lose my original deposit
Have to pay a new one
Pay new pet fee
Reoccurring $25 a month pet fee
Higher rent for new place($20)
If I leave: pay an extra months rent to end my lease and go somewhere else.
I have a meeting with the manager of the complex in three hours to try and negotiate the best possible end. A ton of tennants left recently and their places havent been filled yet so I have some weight for them to want to keep me. Especially since I haven't had a single complaint against me or late rent in two years.
Dude if you agree to any of that you're a fucking idiot. You've had shit stolen from your place. It has also been vandalized. These people aren't helping you out. They are taking more money from you. Tell them there is no negotiating. If they don't budge you will be ending the lease.
Unfortunately, I don't think your house getting vandalized is something you can break your lease over without following w/e was written in your contract. In order to break the lease without penalty the landlord/employees had to have done something wrong. Unless he could probe the LL robbed him, he's shit out of luck.
I would look over your lease though and see if they say anything in it about changing units. As I said above, most already have policies in place, so if your lease says something other than what they are asking, you can hold them to it. Otherwise, ya you can try negotiating, but they can charge w/e they fuck they want.
I honestly would just stay where you are at. Take the extra money and invest in some security cameras.
You can move into my house
Irrelevant, and don't let them convince you otherwise. When a company buys a property, all previous leases are still valid.
This is probably another reason why they are trying to get everyone old out because they probably have their own leases for new tenants.
[edit] They may try to get you to sign a new lease even if staying, don't let them do that either.
You only have 1 month left on the lease? If that's the case pay off that month, get your deposit back, and go somewhere else. The fees they are trying to charge are crazy for just moving from one building to another. Especially the bit about losing the deposit, that's just a crock of shit.
No. Unfortunately all this awful shit happened after I signed up for another year here.
Due to an emergency in the complex (something to do with dead squirrels in some asian girls apt) she pushed me off to today. Since I'm being fucked with so much, the apt manager is going to her boss to see what all she can do for me transfer-wise.
Usually, a complex can't simply absorb your deposit because they want to. Just because they're doing something "special" for you means nothing. If there isn't anything in your lease stipulating that they may take it like this, it's illegal. Beyond that, even if there is something in your lease about it, if state law forbids it, the language in the lease doesn't matter.
I have no idea as to what your state laws are, though, nor where you live; all I've ever gleaned from your videos is that you live in a land of dirty clothes and trash bags.
The dirty clothes not so much, but grocery bags yes. My cat loves them so I kind of leave a few laying around.
