I don't think they get close to that finals without Shaq. They don't win it without Wade though.

Most great players at least have something to fall back on when their body starts to decline. Wade didn't develop more of his game so the drop off has only been hidden by the fact he has pretty much picked and chosen who to play this year. Its hard to see him opting out due to the crazy money...but if he doesn't LeBron's best option is to GTFO.

that said he's a punk ass bitch so it probably is true. i also just don't see lebron being dumb enough to think that wade is an even remotely good choice for your #2 star. it's mitigated by the fact that bosh is still worthy to play with but not if they don't upgrade that bench overall.

Wade was definitely the star of the Heat 06 team, but they don't get that title without Shaq either.

Also by the numbers, Wade's 06 playoffs were arguably the most successful individual playoff performance the league has seen. That being said, refball in Game 5 was strong. He was getting whistles whenever anyone so much as breathed near him.

Wade has nothing to rely on without slashing anymore though. He doesn't have a good enough pull-up, fade-away, or post game to compensate for the loss of athleticism that aging SGs need. I think Miami definitely wants to keep him in the franchise to retire, but he definitely shouldn't be expecting a Kobe style extension.

Pat Riley's press conference today was long as shit, but he stated he wants and expects wade to stay in Miami and doesn't think LBJ and Bosh need much convincing considering what they've done over 4 years.

He bragged about how the spurs only made 1 move, everything else they did in house and he's hoping for the same.
