    Strange Halloween occurrences

Some strange Halloween happenings that I jotted down on Facebook on Halloween day. I recommend reading them in the order presented, however, if you want to TL:DR go to the pics at the end.

Ladies and Gents, I present to you the strange occurrences that have happened to me as of the early hours of this morning in hopes that if anything... bizarre happens to me, the preliminary events may prove helpful in getting to the truth.

    10am Hallow'een day:
    I: 1/3
    Spoiler: show
    1/3

Ugh I had the weirdest night last night. I was up late watching one of my favourite Hallow’een movies, when sometime after midnight I grew faint. I lay down in my lethargic state, staring at the ceiling when I began to hear queer sounds emanating from near the wardrobe. I dispelled the notion that the sounds were coming from my queer housemates and although feeling weak, I felt compelled to investigate further.

The light in the wardrobe was peeking through the cracks of the door frame; I hadn’t opened the wardrobe since I moved in two days ago. “The old tenant must have left the light on” I murmured. I prudently opened the wardrobe slowly; possessions of all variety were stacked within. I swiftly reclosed the wardrobe door as the contents were bursting at the seams and I was afraid I’d be spending the early hours of the morning trying to sort everything to its original state. However, my intentions proved to be a herculean task, my reflexes were not quick enough and a singular item fell.

A dilapidated diary wrapped in string lay on the floor. ‘Cliste’ [Irish for Smart or clever] enough to dare not try to put it back in its native lodgment; I resolved to just put it next to my bed and deal with it tomorrow.

    I: 2/3
    Spoiler: show
Back to bed, still feeling faint but now restlessness has entranced me. I cursed my personal ‘pharmacy’ for never having sleeping medications stocked. Thoughts would emerge, and I would try to suppress. The cycle continued until distorted by those queer sounds again. I began to reflect on the sounds. Peculiarly they seemed to have two originating locales, both synced perfectly to each other. The first locale disturbed me; it seemed ethereal, an astral wind that whirled in my head. The second locale originated from the table next to my bed.

My experience thus far working in mental health became my bulwark. I must be missing my loved ones, I must be burning the candle at both ends, or I mustn’t be eating well enough I suggested to myself as possible hypotheses for the obviously delusional behaviour I was experiencing.

The diary on the table next to my bed became the focus of my attention, partly to distract myself from these strange auditory happenings and partly hoping that the self-indulgent ramblings often found in diaries would prove to be a potent hypnotic.
The diary was decayed further than I had originally noted. Faded gaudy floral prints, their lustre long lost decorated the diary in its totality. Although difficult to ascertain, it seemed like the diary had originally been painted a light shade of pink. If asked to estimate the epoch where this diary was created, I would hesitantly but confidently suggest the early 70’s. Upon opening the inside cover I discovered the name and homestead of the original proprietor. Well, most of it; ‘C----e White’, from ‘Chamberlain Maine’.

I became puzzled. The previous tenant was male, and was French.

    I: 3/3

    Spoiler: show
I lightly skimmed through the diary, both horrified and despaired at the contents scrawled on every centimeter of the pages. The pages seemed to delineate into different topics which featured graphic illustrations to accompany the anguished written verse. Religion: psalm after psalm, prayer after prayer (“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil” was featured heavily), and countless illustrations of saintly figures (predominantly Jesus on the crucifix with eyes disproportionately bigger than his other features).
Teenage anguish: by the use of vocabulary I would posit that the girl was bright and in late adolescence, however, the content seemed to represent a maturity level closer to that of someone entering adolescence. Although difficult to read (due to the distortions in the ink caused by what I can only hope were tears) it seemed the young White girl was bullied tremendously. I began reading a devastating incident whereupon the young woman had had an incident in the showers after PE. The pages become increasingly more difficult to read, but from what I could make out the girls tormented her by throwing “something” at her and shouting “P-u-..it..up”.

I threw the book down. Reading that last line had jolted me, whereas I couldn’t read the first word from the book, I could hear it in my head. It was the queer sounds from before. “P-u-..it..up” I heard again from both locales, it was louder now. There were many voices, like harpies: all of them female and full of vile.

I put the pillow over my head, and tried to drown out the voices. Eventually, they must have stopped or I must have tired myself out. I woke up late for work, somewhat fatigued and restless; the sensation you get from a poor night’s sleep.

Dashing around the room I frantically tried to get out to work in time. Just before leaving, I was shook by the realization that the diary I had been reading was no longer on the floor where I had thrown it. I glanced around the room: the spine of the book apparent from underneath my pillow.
I shuttered and for the first time this morning I heard the voices again “P-u-..it..up”.

    II: 1/4
    Spoiler: show
I'm losing my mind. I must write. If I write while things are quiet I might be able to make sense of it later.

I was startled when leaving for work, but the meeting I had been preparing for all week meant I hadn't time to think about all the stuff that was going on. I entered the office and was met with a "you look like crap Joseph, the Henderson account is not that important" from a co-worker.

I bombed the meeting; I was disorganized and flustered. I could see the anger reaching boiling point in my boss. Sure enough, I was subjected to a torrent of abuse that felt like it would never end. My eyes glazed over and all
I could hear were the voices again. Between the voices and my boss's shouting my resilience was disseminated. So much noise, I couldn't make sense of anything; I just kept my head down and nodded and nodded.

Seemingly randomly, a brief sensation of clarity would awash over me: I could attune to either the drifting around my mind or that of my bosses. The voices alternated between maniacal laughing and a mantra that I still couldn't discern "P-u-..it..up".
My boss's tirade was even more distressing, a cutting critique of my character and abilities. I'd zone out. I'd zone back in to hear I've been
put on probation. I'd zone out. I'd hear the voices mocking me. I zoned out for the last time. I came back to hear my boss screech 'Are you hearing me
Jason?' He frequently would call me Jason, mixing me up with his cleaner and no matter how many times I corrected him it would continue to happen.

I snapped. "My name's not Cassie!"

    II: 2/4
    Spoiler: show
He was taken aback and I could tell his anger had been replaced with concern. He was never good with dealing with emotions, so he just dismissed me
and told me to go back to work. I left his office, with a sense of dread and confusion I've never experienced before.

I returned to my desk, avoiding the stares of my co-workers. I was drained. I rested my head on the desk, and well, everything went dark.
I opened my eyes. I was no longer at my desk, but on the floor with a makeshift pillow of jackets under my neck. My co-workers were surrounding me in a circle, their faces (especially their eyes) betrayed their silence. They were both horrified and concerned.

My friend in the office, Steven extended his hand to me and helped me to my feet. He assisted my walking by guiding me to the bathroom.
He locked the door. We hadn't exchanged any words yet, and I could tell he didn't know how to begin. "What happened I asked? I feel so weak, and
my head is so sore" I whimpered. Steven paused, his countenance exuded a pathos I didn't think he possessed, "don't worry about it Joseph, we've called for a taxi to bring you to the hospital". I nearly fainted. "What? Steven, tell me everything. Now" I retorted with an energy that I physically didn't possess.

    II: 3/4
    Spoiler: show
"Well, Joseph, its kinda strange. I had been watching you since you came in, because we could hear Matt's shouting. I saw you rest your head on the table, and well, I didn't think much of it until a few minutes later when you dropped your phone. It dropped with a bang, and you jolted up, but you didn't pick up the phone.
Instead you went into your backpack and picked up this dingy diary and started flicking through the pages. I glanced at your face: your eyes were glazed
over, you alternated quickly between a smirk and a visage of hellish pain."

"I didn't know what to say or do, I thought it might have been a brief coping mechanism after all that had happened this morning. But then you stood up, with diary in hand and walked into the middle of the office. You took Todd's hand, fell to the floor and began to sob uncontrollably."

"You began to speak in two distinctly different voices. One a young girl with a Midwestern accent. The other, a matronly mother."

    Mother: You're a woman now.
Girl: Why didn't you tell me mama?
Mother: And God mad Eve from the rib of Adam. And Eve was weak and loosed the raven on the world. And the raven was sin.
Girl: Why didn't you tell me, Mama? They all laughed at me.
Mother: Say it. Say 'and the raven was called sin'.
Girl: But I didn't sin Mama. I was so scared. I thought I was dying. And the girls, they all laughed at me and threw things at me, Mama.
Girl: Don't hit me Mama, stop Mama, stop.
Mother: Eve was weak. And Eve was weak. Say it.
Girl: You should have told me Mama! You should have told me!
Mother: Oh Lord! Help this sinning woman see the sin of her days and ways. Show her that if she had remained sinless, this curse of blood would never have come on her!

    II: 4/4

    Spoiler: show
I listened to every word. Every word Steven said seemed alien to me, yet, somewhere deep down I knew he wasn't lying. What did it all mean? The diary? It was under my pillow when I left for work. Why the fuck was I talking in two women's voices? It was too much. But for the first time today, a surge of strength came upon me. I had to act while I still had control. I had to find somewhere to think, and someone who might be able to help me.

I grasped Steven's hand, and looked appreciatively into his eyes. I couldn't convey the gratitude I felt. Adrenaline flowing in my veins, I left the bathroom and ran to the office. I took my backpack and ran for the subway.

I scrawled whats happened thus far on my commute back to my new apartment. I now know what I have to do:

I need to find more information on this young Ms White. Everything points back to her. The diary must be the key. I just hope I can stop this madness, before that...darkness comes again and I lose control.

    Final notes:
    Spoiler: show
And then I got drunk and stopped posting. I was thinking about posting something about how Carrie had possessed me and she had left my body after midnight...or something. But, I was too hungover the next day to do anything.

Sorry/ not sorry if this didn't warrant its own thread. But, Hallow'een is my favourite holiday in the year and I've always went all out for it.

Costume was a load of fun. I had never done drag before...and of course left tons of the costume to the last minute.

Top tips: shaving your arms/ chest takes ages.

Fuck trying to glue my eyebrows. I failed terribly, and its the only thing I'm disappointed with.

Heels fucking suck to walk / dance/ do anything in.

Make up is actually really hard to put on. I've alot more respect for girls who can do it right.

That fucking blood is so sticky, but thankfully in a packed nightclub you can get everyone to move the fuck away from you by just saying it stains everything.

I guess it doesnt really have the same effect when given all together and not on halloween.

Oh wells, it was fun as hell writing it and pranking everyone on facebook(turns out no one knows the story of Carrie, and I received like 5 messages from friends concerned I was hearing voices) and trying drag for the first time was my most challenging halloween costume to date.

Three showers later I still have a light shade of red on some parts of my skin.

    Ah now lads, simmer down.

I generally love going all out for Halloween and this year I experimented with adding the story as a prelude to the costume reveal. My friend's reception of it ranged from luke warm to well after the costume was shown (although a few did say it was a bit much). Pride comes before the fall as they say, and I thought it might be cool to show it here too.

It didn't work. I'm sorry [read: not sorry] if it offended you to voluntarily look at it (especially as I spoilered every section of it, and even mentioned where the pics were).

    Let it die~
