    Wolverine 3: Logan (March 3, 2017)

All three were amazing in this movie. X-23 actress legit stole every scene of fisticuffs.

    Spoiler: show
Script was weird though like panda said. Like, what the fuck at the magneto kid? He should've been able to body those guards himself.

Also, anyone find it hilarious Laura was the only kid with a Spanish accent?

When the fat black kid starts running away at the end of the movie I legit thought he was charging up a superpower the way he was jiggling and was beyond shocked that I was so wrong.

Also apparently liev schrieber was supposed to reprise his role as sabretooth in this movie but was cut out. Really curious what that would have looked like if he replaced x-24 since the existence of x-24 kind of shuts down the importance of logan/x-24 dying and x-23 replacing them both. The argument that x-24 is an on the nose allegory for logan confronting his bestial past nature makes sense, but wasn't that always what sabretooth was anyway? Where as wolverine fought with his bloodlust and animal rage sabretooth wholeheartedly embraced it. Think sabretooth/wolverine killing each other with the hopeful x-23 replacing them could have worked just as well. Instead we got a clone, which as a character couldn't be more shallow/meaningless that gets adamti-domed.

But, hearing logan spit out to a dying Xavier, "It wasnt me!" was pretty worth for me.

Sabretooth would've been ridiculously better than the cop out clone. Liev delivers, producers failed hard on this point cuz X-24 was wack.

There was a moment when we were thinking about, as I recall, Jim [Mangold] had an idea where when they were on the run, and they go to the gambling town, there may have been at that point they were going to see [Sabertooth] for help. He was going to be there for help. Now that you mention it! I wouldn’t swear to it, but we thought that would have been an interesting thing to do. And then for whatever reason we didn’t do it.
There were times early on in the story where I played with the idea of Hugh coming along, and I don’t want to give away anything, but I played with there being an underground railroad where there were a couple of other mutants that he met on the journey. It always seemed to detract from the loneliness of the story though and became a kind of cameo.

X-24 was a reference to this guy. http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Albert_(Earth-616) Especially since it was Donald Pierce who built Albert in the first place.

Weird, but some online synopsis for the movie were openly mentioning Nathaniel Essex as X-23 creator.

Not just that, but there had been plenty of "leaks" confirming Mr.Sinister would be the main villain. So I guess they just decided to cut him as they were wrapping up production?

I'm glad they didn't add any more characters. Focusing on just the handful of characters to develop is so much better than the dozen or so characters they usually have.

    Spoiler: show
prof x accidentally killing all the other X-Men though...ugh...right in the feels...

Pierce first brings it up when he says "Shame what happened back east". After the Casino scene we hear on the radio the Westchester Incident. Westchester is where the school was located. I guess there wasn't that many left?

they mention it piece by piece throughout the film, culminating near x's death where he admits to x-24, but I'd have to rewatch movie to make sure that was the scene that confirmed it. He says he knows what Logan's been keeping from him, he remembers what he did. Basically, his first seizure was in the company of the X-Men and being that no one knew wtf was going on, it probably went on for a short while killing everyone cept wolverine, who stopped and saved him afterwards. I loved it, as much as it hit me in the feels, but yeah, still hurts lol.

This movie is the way the other Wolverine movies should have been.

I'm really hoping the ripple effect of having such huge success with a really hard R movie in such a big franchise leads to a bigger shift in the rest of the Mahvel franchises towards that end of the spectrum. I'd much prefer the majority of the movies to be R and a handful (Like Guardians) to go for the PG-13 market. Given the amount of underage kids I saw in Deadpool and Logan, I doubt the rating will change the BO returns much.

It's not the movie run, it's the merchandising I thought. Are we ready to admit we are a-okay with letting our children play and idolize these vigilante mutant Rated-R muthafuckers? Or can we artificially hold back the violence, make it PG-13, and still sell toys guilt-free?

    "Was Robocop R?"

    Yes. It was nearly NC-17.
