Since Nintendo bought them, the Mariners have always had more money than sense. This certainly shows that things haven't changed.

Those players were highly celebrated signings who came to Seattle and lost their bats (so was Adrian Beltre, actually, although he found his again after leaving). Yes, Cano is a bigger deal than any of those three signings, but until he shows he can actually hit in Seattle, the skepticism is going to follow.

I think that reflects poorly on the Mariners more than anything if Chone Figgins is "highly celebrated." Sexson had two good years with the M's before tailing off.

Still neither is anywhere near the same caliber player as Cano.

That discussion has come up a few times, the "how many 10 year" or "how many 200-300mil" deals actually end up working out or being worth it.

I'm happy the Yankees didn't overpay Cano like they normally would have done, there was a good 70mil difference between the offers. He wanted the most he could get and he got it, good for him. I was kinda happy as a Yankee fan thinking about how they'd use that 200mil they saved, especially with the biggest names off the market already, but then the news hit that Granderson is gone. I hate everything now. As happy as I was about Ichiro coming to NY, I'm as sad about Curtis leaving. I've gone to more Yankee games since those 2 were picked up than any other point in my life and its a rough day for me.

As someone who's favorite soccer team lost their striker to required military service this year (이근호... come back ㅠㅠ), I can confirm that dude for retarded.

Also, I think the Yankees did the right thing letting Cano walk. It's not like they'll have trouble finding a serviceable 2B to overpay for a little while. Certainly won't be a Cano-level 2B, but not Mark Bellhorn either.

I see that same argument all the time in facebook. Had one friend even say that no one should make more than 50k. Ron Paul influence everyone.....

As a Yankee fan, I'm happy the Yankees didn't budge on their years and money offers for Cano but sad to see him go. The problem Seattle will have is if they don't get other hitters to accompany Cano, it'll be a waste.

Also Seattle fans be prepared to be annoyed by his lack of running out ground balls or balls he think will be caught.
