It's not *that* bad, you get used to it relatively quickly and the system seems pretty smart.

Unsubbing from the thread until I upgrade my GPU and actually play this. May be awhile as other expenses have come up.
Yes and no. You can tell they were trying to keep the amount of interactions low in a gun fight, so it does help out quite a lot and is very handy, but it's only annoying if you come STRAIGHT from a game with a cover button, since it tries to auto cover like a 'magnet' so you may end up covering when you don't try to in some spots, it's not really bad, just feels finicky.
It takes a bit of getting used to, especially if you played a lot of ME3 or any other cover shooter. You get a grip on it after a while.
I only did one MP match last night before bed, and it seemed very similar to ME3 right down to the objectives and squad banter. Of course me and my teammates were all level 1 with starter guns so we were terrible and only made it to wave 5.
I'd also point out that cover isn't really as vital to combat as it was in the past. It feels like you are rewarded a lot more for getting in the thick of things.
At least for single player alot of weapon augments revolve around the use of hover and a more mobile playstyle. There's some skills in the combat tree that revolve around use of cover, but it feels like those are more designed to be used with the Barricade skill (which generates a cover out of thin air for like 10 seconds)
Is there still a weapon weight/power recast mechanic?
Yes. You can only carry two guns unless you put more points into the Soldier's Combat ability to unlock more slots and reduce carry weight.
I'm thinking more and more that I'm going to pirate this game. I don't want to reward this kind of development.
sad to say but this is where i'm at. i'm only five hours in but it's the worst five hours i've spent with a Mass Effect game. the animations constantly break immersion and make the dialogue system a joke, which would be less important if it wasn't say 1/3rd of the game.
MEGA HOUR 2 SPOILER
Spoiler: show
the planet scanning minigame is absolutely awful, worse than 2's, the writing is mostly forgettable and at times laughable ('sorry my face is tired' will go down in the annals of the internets), the voice acting is uneven, Scottish gal and Salarian crewmember are hype but the celebrity sex kitten & comedian are so distinctive as to be distracting yet are given forgettable straight roles, and both Ryders are worse than the Jennifer Hale / Mark Meer combo.
it's the best combat in a Mass Effect game and the multiplayer is a ton of fun, if restricted to a p shallow horde mode, but it makes a lot of sense this was made by Bioware's b-team responsible for the Omega DLC. that was perfectly fine mediocre content as well.
Nier or Zelda get the $60 and the hours, i'll come back in six months or a year and see if Andromeda is in a better state.
Sorry my face is tired is the worst expression ever. Just a load of WTF. It didn't even make sense in the moment.
It really is a bit jarring how much better Mass Effect 3 looks than this game when it comes to facial/people animations. The environments in Andromeda are much better though.
Cancelled my pre-order. I never pirate games and this would be a first, might instead wait till a drop in price. I'm too busy to play right now anyway to justify full price and I've honestly been scared away a little.
I have Nier, Zelda, Horizon and Nioh on deck. I can't decide if I want to day one this.
Eh, I'm still going full steam for this. If you guys want to add me for multi player origin name is Grayskull23
If you don't give a shit about MP I'd say, unbiased, that y'all are 100% justified in avoiding it like the plague. I on the other hand have been craving ME3's flavor of horde MP again for ages so I could care less if SP is a steaming pile of garbage with a lengthy combat tutorial.
I never planned on playing the SP to begin with. I look forward to wrecking shit in MP again.
