One of the things I don't understand is that ultrawide resolution gets boxed on the sides during real-time conversations. I can understand Tempest cutscenes and other media that is pre-rendered, but that didn't make much sense to me.

Just finished the main story.
I only played ME2 so I'm not really in a position to compare it to the original trilogy, but even with the flaws I enjoyed the hell out of Andromeda. I'm also thankful I decided to stick with my preorder after the initial complaining about poor animations. I thought Fem Ryder and the rest of the VA cast did a great job. Final mission felt epic and brought everything together.
That said, if this is truly the "worst entry in the series" I think I'll go back and at least play ME3.
Really hoping to see a continuation of the story and...
Spoiler: show
ME3 is definitely worth playing.
You'll have an advantage that the ME3 ending has been "improved" since original release so you'll never experience the real disappointment.
The entire reason I never played ME3, despite buying it at release was because I heard the most awful shit about the ending. Maybe a knee jerk reaction but I likely got distracted by other games and never went back to it.
Some more random thoughts on the game.
What I thought they did right:
Nomad exploration on open world planets
Environments
Gameplay
Voice Acting
Scale of the game, could always have more planets to explore but what we had was enjoyable
Sidequests overall, I read every datapad and clicked on every doodad I could
Story
Squadmates, particularly Drack and the banter with him and Vetra, Jaal
Loyalty Missions
Ryder Family Secrets Mission
Some things I thought they got wrong (excluding givens like technical polish, animations, etc):
Crafting, I ended up sitting on a lot of research/materials until the end because it felt scarce and I didn't want to waste it, especially with how expensive research is
UI, mostly submenus within submenus
Squadmates, Cora felt forgettable, Peebee was kinda fun but annoying and I wanted to kill her during her loyalty mission, didn't care much about Liam either
NPC interaction, sometimes difficult to interact with, sometimes you could barely hear them because they weren't in the frame or far away
Omni Tool Scanning, difficult a lot of the times to figure out what you are supposed to scan when you hear the beeps
Mission Nav Points in the open world, sometimes difficult to figure out where it wants you to go
I'm almost certain I am forgetting about some other things that nagged on me right now, but that is a random brain dump of shit.
I think after several additional months of technical patches the game will be looked upon more favorably than it is now.
ME3 is really good up until the ending, tho the nature of the game does make the story a bit disjointed. The individual planet stories are all fantastic, especially Tuchanka and Rannoch missions.
The end of the Tuchanka mission is probably tops all time for me in feels in a game.
I'm not finished Andromeda yet but I've played a solid chunk of the game now I think. The thing I think really need work the most is the crafting system. A ton of the firing modifications feel pretty useless and those are the only things that really make crafting guns worth it in the first place. The extra mod slots aren't really helpful either because you can only have one of each type of modification anyway. The game needs way more augmentations like the Fusion mods and way fewer ones like the +2/5% [power type] damage/duration garbage. I'd also like it way better if armor didn't have default stats tied to it so I could wear what I want instead of what I feel like I need.
I'm not a big fan of the Ammo powers being stripped out of the game either.
Oh, one more gripe I just thought of. If you get 100% viability on all the planets before you finish the game the mission that pops up as a result has a spoiler. It wasn't a big deal to me but was annoying, they should have locked that shit behind the main story.
Thanks for the heads up. That just popped for me.
Game has been cracked, pretty quick (~12 days) considering Bioware used Denuvo for this game.

I can continue post credits right?
I'm running around 100%'ing the game with what I assume is the last mission (Starts with a crew meeting or some shit) sitting in my logs. I kinda wanna finish it and go back as I'm getting a lot of post-ending quests that I can't do.
I believe some assorted tasks and some minor quests will get locked out, but nothing actually important (notably all loyalty missions are still available)
