ME2: Best gameplay, great characters and story. Main con is the awful planet scanning

ME3: I enjoyed it at the time but it's not as memorable as ME2

ME1: Introduction to the universe and story sucked me in. I liked how guns started off as really shitty until you invested skill points and the improvement was noticeable. Elevator load times. Inventory management omg.

ME:A: It's fine. I feel they could have done A LOT more with a story based on "part of humanity moves to a new galaxy"

In the context of when it was released, ME1 was just as good as ME2 for me.

Put em side by side now? ME2 is the clear winner.

I absolutely adored ME1 at the time of release, but trying to go back years later I found it basically unplayable. Whenever I wanted to do a new run thru the series, I would just import a save into 2 then use a save editor to flag everything how I wanted.

I put ME1 at the bottom of my list because it's near unplayable by today's standards. Was fun at the time, though. ME2 and ME3 have aged very well.

ME3 > ME2 > ME:A > ME1

Like Krandor when I do a replay of the series I just use a save editor when importing. I tried to go back and play 1 not that long ago and I could barely get through the first mission, the gameplay is just so goddamn awful.

A lot of ME:A's issue is that, despite being in an entirely new galaxy, it fails to capture the same magic that ME1 had where you were in this totally alien place meeting and learning about all sorts of new things. Very, very, very little diversity in new wildlife/technology/sentient species which makes it feel more like ME2 where we had all the established races and a couple that we had never seen before introduced in. It feels like a continuation despite attempting to break off and be its own thing, and it makes it very difficult to see Andromeda in its own light outside of the shadow of the OT.

Who the fuck says? The OT will always hold a special place in my nostalgia box as probably the best scifi/scifa video game series I'll ever play. People can argue rose tinted goggles or whatever all they want, but attempting to downplay the original trilogy in this way will never work, especially since most of us played them as they came out, we didn't buy them all today and play them expecting to have the same gameplay conventions as a modern game made in 2017. The story still cannot be contested, ME:A doesn't hold a candle when it comes to most of its writing and story structure; very few of the story threads and side story content in the OT felt as disjointed as most of the bad stuff I experienced in ME:A.

Playing ME2 after playing ME3 is hard for me. Everything (especially the power projectiles) feels so much slower. At least ME2 is still playable though. Trying to play Me1 after playing either of the others is just... not good.

I've personally always enjoyed ME1's adept/biotics the most out of the series. You can basically become a god.

And its story is far and away the best and most coherent. ME2 and ME3's stories are insulting and completely derail everything ME1 set up.

I think part of what drags down ME:A is the fact that you've realistically got three new races. You're in a completely new galaxy and that's all you've got? I mean, come on now. I would have been fine with Bioware removing all of the preexisting races(except Krogan obviously) and starting from a fresh slate. With ME1 there was a clear path for a sequel. After finishing Andromeda I don't see it. Ryder was bland as fuck. The plot was alright but I feel with expansions it's going to finish the story. Theoretically I could see Bioware getting lazy and have a sequel that consists of omg the reapers followed us!
