Oh my god it's fargo from Eureka
Oh my god it's fargo from Eureka
Binge done. Damn good stuff. Time to clean up the mess I made in my pants. Twice.
fug no time, no time
Ten more minutes before I leave work and binge the FUCK out of this.
They couldn't cast enough Japanese people lol, most of the Yakuza were Chinese actors.
Season 2 made me realize we could have had 2 seasons of the punisher instead
Just finished. Need to rehydrate. Lost too many bodily fluids.
I'd much rather have 2 seasons of the punisher, than the angst ridden omg i cant kill popplez matt emodevil murdoch.
The "crew" is turning into something similar to arrow where they all hate each other but stay together and it just sucks.
Also there were quite a few episodes where the sound mixing was shit, where dialogue would be quiet and action sequences were really loud, it was pretty annoying.
it was pretty good but imo there are a lot more things in this season that could annoy audiences than in the first season. But I can also understand a minority of people liking this 10x more than the 1st
I doubt anybody else cared at all about this but I got got really cynical after DD gave the don't kill people, they all have a little bit of good in them! spiel... and then goes right back to delivering massive brain trauma to everybody he comes across - likely killing a lot of them since they're falling unconscious in stairwells, on concrete, off of things, etc.
only reason that got brought to my attention was the punisher, too. If he wasn't in this I doubt my immersion would be ruined at all lol. Can't have a real-nigga on the same show with a kung fu flip kick finisher imo
Episode 12, comic nerd question
Spoiler: show
Was very good for Season 2. It dragged a bit in some places, but overall it came together nicely.
Was a bit disappointed with how little Punisher was involved in the end. Also I am not completely sold on Neranthol as Frank. Someone who actually reads Punisher books would have a better sense if he did a great job, but there were moments when Jon would bob his head and all I could think of was Shane saying "Let me ask you something, man." Other than that, he was dark and brooding enough imo to be what Frank Castle would sound and behave like. In comparison between Ray Stevenson and Thomas Jane, I'd say he's pretty close runner with Jane and a bit better than Stevenson. Would love to see Netflix Punisher stand alone series though.
Daredevil/Matt love triangle with Elektra and Karen seemed a bit weird. He switched between women way too easily and too conveniently. For Daredevil readers, what did you guys think of DD/Elektra dynamic?

The only knock I would give on the portrayal of Punisher was he didn't come off quite sadistic enough. In the more well know versions of him, comic Frank legitimately enjoys killing people. That said it makes sense that they wanted to move away from that angle a bit since they wanted to at least attempt to make Frank a redeemable character.
In terms of how he portrayed what he was given, I think Bernthal knocked it out of the park and was easily the best part of the season. His long monologue in episode 4 was particularly great.
If anyone who watches season 2 and wants more Punisher action, I strongly recommend any of the various series by Garth Ennis. If you can handle the violence in this series you'll probably be OK with what goes on in those comics.
Bernthal has a great presence and did a pretty good job acting with what he was given. The problem is what he was given was shit. If there's a list of things the Punisher should only do in exceedingly rare occasions, it's smile, laugh, cry, have long-winded monologues, and give up. He's done all of those in the 4 episodes I've watched so far.
Just finished. I'm spent. A single episode, a day's work, a 5-episode marathon, a night's sleep, a 6-episode marathon, rugby, beer, the final episode.
Punisher was the best damn bit. Bernthal was perfect.
Finished the binge. I thought it was even better than season one. I don't know much about Punisher but Bernthal was amazing. Easily had some of the best scenes. Also loved the fact they maintained the high quality and creative choreography from the first season. Staircase scene in episode three is one of the craziest fight scenes I've ever seen. I'm really looking forward to the other series'. The world of Hells Kitchen is a blast to watch. If I have any complaints, it's that the lighting was so damn wonky sometimes.

If they did that one it would have a lot of changes, and I could see it being combined with Last Rites + Punisher teaming up with darebro
