On one hand I go "how the fuck does this happen" on the other hand I'm pleasantly surprised by the amount of time it took them to act.

Not sure how widespread it was (in actual occurences), but on the NA/EU side it seems like muh Midgardsormr happens to have a lot of the self-reported occurances of this exploit.
I've heard Ridill pretty much had people turning Central Shroud/Central Thanalan/Middle La Noscea/Mor Dhona into fucking refugee camps. lol
Man, just when you think this game couldn't be a bigger punchline. Fucking gift that keeps on giving rofl

Might be just coincidence, but I think not. They do have a China subsidiary/arm based on their corporate site (http://www.square-enix.net.cn/), so there's probably something substantive actually happening here.Square Enix plans to expand Final Fantasy XIV further by bringing the game to mainland China.
I think SE should try consider hiring the RTM to re-code the game for them or something. They clearly more adept than the current guys.
Not all gil sellers are from China. I had a gold selling company based in the US offering advertising on my site once. I turned them down for obvious reasons.
I can see why people store their gil on their retainers now, going to put mine on when I login tonight.
This had to have been a gold mine for RMT against people who buy gil, lol. Person buys like 5M gil, RMT come back next day and force them to buy an item for 5M.
RMT: "Oh hey, I heard you spent that 5M already, would you like to buy 5M more?" *evil grin*
Same here, lol. I had just logged for the night, since i had to be up early, and hour later my friend was spamming me messages on FB about it. XD
RMT companies are often based in the US and they hire chinese farmers/in-game advertisers since like every other business they know you can treat Chinese people like shit and get away with it.
IIRC the previous packet hax was mostly being done by legitimate players who then sold the gil to the RMT. RMT often make MMO currency the old fashioned way unless there's a really obvious/widely-known way of haxing the game.
I feel it's just PR stuff, wtf would they actually do especially if people are right about the perpetrators being Chinaman RMTs?
not to say its RMT only but i saw 5~6 people who had names of 4 letters(2 for both parts of their names) and just tele hacking. There might of been more but that was the ones I could see the names of. I shouted in the zone with their names and POS so people could report. and told all the mining people around me via tells. Funny part out of the 4 other's I sent tells to, only one person answered me back with "ya could not see their names, thanks ill report" rest did not even answer me. So ass, its not RMT only doing this. On the plus side, im scared to think what shards would cost if we did not have the bots...
Just because they didn't respond to you doesn't mean they're bots or something.
I disregard 90% of tells from random chucklefucks about this because I don't fucking care, as i've already done a search to get the bot's full name and reported them. In fact, the chat spam from people (meaning well) who sound the alarm in shout the entire time they're DoLing in the zone is probably even more annoying than some under-terrain position hacking bot.
I don't know if I'd say "now" as this this sort of teleport-bot-gathering has been going on for a while:

lol wut
I mean I don't really want to derail the thread with what could be considered a politics discussion, but do you know anything about China at all?
(I don't mean they're treated like shit in comparison to jobs they could otherwise get btw, I assumed that much was apparent)
Seems like the best place to notify, but servers are up according to the Lodestone. Actually, they went up at 7 Eastern, so i'm slow as fuck here.

This is a notification about the countermeasures that will be taken for players who were affected by the Market security issue reported from earlier.
