Since I have Prime, and they tend to match or beat brick and mortar retailers, I do much of my Black Friday shopping on Amazon nowadays. They've already started some specials in anticipation of Black Friday, and you can sign up for their email list on this page to be notified of upcoming deals.

Always shop smart on Black Friday, though—especially since a fair chunk of its "deals" aren't deals at all, and aren't exclusive to that day.

I'm really hoping they do match most the physical retailers, that Best Buy ad has a very attractive deal on a coffee maker and a blender that I'm eyeing; but my local Best Buy is down the street from one of the largest shopping malls in the country, so the traffic in that area is going to be fucking insane on Black Friday.

Thanks for sharing that link! I feel dumb for never having considered the effect of pushing processing into monitors/TVs. Do you happen to know if this can also be seen when watching movies on a TV by way of a DLNA connection to a PC? I recently started watching movies that way on a big Samsung smart TV I inherited from old roommates (no idea what model off the top of my head, it's only 2-3 years old), and the first few movies I watched on it made my eyes/head hurt. The playback seemed ultra-fluid, like it was playing at a faster FPS than it should have been, but the audio/video never desynced. Bizarre. My brain seems to have adjusted to it though.

I never had any bad problems with Sharp, not good, not bad. Very middle of the road quality, in my experience. I've been eyeing the Samsung Smart TVs for a while, so if I can't get the Sharp, I'll just settle for a lower screen size, better brand name.

Target is offering a $200 50' Element Brand TV as a doorbuster, but I'm all done with going on opening days. After what I experienced at Bestbuy, I would rather just get everything online at a higher price.

That effect is from the TV refreshing at a faster rate than the source FPS, so that in the in between frames the TV kind of makes an assumption as to what should be in each pixel and animates that. I know it's hard to describe but it looks like things are 'too' real sometimes, like you're watching the actual film set and not the finished film.

Only thing of interest I've seen is the 39" LED Insignia at Best Buy for I think $170 which isn't really a hot deal considering it's an Insignia and one might lose their sanity trying to get it.

If I do any shopping in physical stores on Black Friday, it's early as fuck in the morning at stores that stayed open all night (e.g., at 2:00AM). There's no one there, and on the vast majority of my outings, I've found everything I wanted. If it was an option, I specifically went to a middle-of-nowhere store, rather than one in the city, and leisurely picked up whatever I wanted without any lines or other forms of hassle.

If you want a PS3 you can buy mine for $250 lol. It's been turned on maybe 10 times. 9 of those times were to play XIV, which I can play on PS4 now.


There are some good deals on name brand reputable TV's, but still nothing worth going out and camping/dealing with the crowds.

As an aside, anyone buying a tv, DON'T get a wall mount from BB, Walmart, etc. They charge like $80 for that shit. Got ours off of Amazon for $25 and it works perfectly.

Funny, for shit we buy, CM has been on par or sometimes better than BF without having to deal with crowds. Hell even if they were lesser deals, the fact I can do my christmas shopping pantless makes it better than black friday which is slowly turning into black thursday.

Monoprice sells them for even cheaper. I've had 5 or so over the past couple years, good stuff.

Also don't splurge on over priced HDMI Cables. The ones from monoprice work exactly the same as the ones from Best Buy/Monster at a literal fraction of the price.

I'd be wary of Sceptres.. Admittedly it's a small sample size, but the two people I know who have them have both had problems with theirs in the past. I think one person had a fuse burn out, and the other's always emitted this high pitched hum, even when off.
