damn I forgot that trading for Alex Smith prevents the team from drafting and developing someone else while having a a serviceable QB in the meantime. whatever was I thinking!

To Plow from earlier in the thread, there's something called David Strategies in which teams will do that when they know they're at a severe disadvantage. Taking more risky measures is changing the rules of the game so they don't play into the hands of the Goliath. Fakes, surprise onside kicks, going for it on 4ths are all things you do to trip up superior opposition. That doesn't make them good teams, it just means they're inept and know they're inept so they try weird shit.

Any smart and prepared football team can adapt and beat a team trying this. Broncos-Jags was a good example of this.

I argued with a guy at work who's a Saints fan this morning. I still say it was a legal hit, if a really hard one. If he hadn't hit him so hard I doubt it would have been called, but it is what it is.

Gotta say, I don't know what he could have done differently. If he goes lower he's hitting him with the crown of his helmet. If he tries to play his arm lower then he's risking a full miss. It's unfortunate, but I agree - should be legal

how far does "neck area" even extend? your chest isn't your neck but because they are next to each other they are the same thing?
