Unless I have some particular reason to do otherwise, I usually take whatever the minimum required ilvl is for the fight and add 10. This would put Titan HM at ilvl 67, which is probably about right given that you'll likely have to write off one or two players to latency issues or just plain derp. Extreme primals end up at 75, 77, and 80, which is about where you need to be to pass the DPS checks without undue stress.

What is starting to irritate me is stuff like this:

Viena's point was pretty clear to me lol, the majority of the people who still actually need Titan HM aren't going to be that level. And since ilvl is a poor indicator and Titan isn't really a dps check, it's kinda bad. Most of my FC guys I helped through Titan were rocking all AK gear with a GC weapon since it wasn't their primary lol. That being said, I wouldn't take anyone without like at least i55 or whatever that number averages to if you don't have at least all lvl 50 gear.

What's wrong with setting a PF level cap near your own level? The group filled in 5 minutes. The vast majority of people would have been working on relic for alt jobs.

I went for the comment quoted on the post you linked stating "I recommend making a partyfinder with much higher gear requirement, say i73+.", which I first mistakenly assumed it was made by you. I don't feel like there's anything wrong with the reply given to that comment that you are linking and ridiculing. Unless you are attempting to build a "relic only" farming party, ilvl 65 should be adequate, 70 or more would hardly classify as such and a likely scenario is that someone intends to get carried through it (while definitely possible, I don't expect most people to have abundance of 80-90 stuff for their alts by the time they work on their relic, although this will be more commonplace given some time as people accumulate stuff from CT/primals/coil).

One big flaw with the ilvl metric is that it gives equal weight to all gear equipped, when there's really 4 "tiers" of gear as far as how much they actually contribute in terms of stats.

I: Weapon
II: Body/Legs
III: Head/Hands/Feet
IV: Belt/Jewelry

Another flaw is people using jewelery from other jobs to artificially bump their ilvl, once you join the party just switch back to your normal gear and the only way anyone would know your actual ilvl is if they checked you and manually calculated it themselves.

Depending on your other gear you can easily bump your ilvl by 10 or more by throwing on a random smattering of lvl90 accessories.

I had quite the debate about this the other day. There should be a weighted value added to the weapon and armor slots over the jewelry, but it would probably be too difficult for SE to balance properly so thats how it goes! Instead players are penalized for making smart choices about how they spend myth, valuing the def/vit and higher stat bonuses from armor over my base ilvl. I haven't really has issues finding groups that either are of my ilvl or will accept me when I ask, but I can imagine newer players are going to be more focused on ilvl than gear choice.

There are two types of people needing Titan HM.
- Those on their first Relic
- Those on subsequent Relics

To be honest I was sick of dealing with people who didn't know the fight, I've contributed more than my fair share to the community, but that doesn't extend to holding people's hand through Titan HM when I'm trying to clear it. I.e Carrying them.


And yeah I probably did jump down the guys throat a bit. But the reply he made ripping into the other poster was way beyond anything rational.

Besides that he's calling a one tank strategy "gaming the system" and acting as if it's abhorrent, while at the same time encouraging people to find the "sweet spot" to stand for Titan. Not that I give a fuck about how people do Titan, but it's a complete double standard.

Have you tried running the EX fights on Tonberry?

My FC has fallen apart and it's fucking difficult to find competent people. Relic was a much easier, and much less stressful option. Turn 5? Hah, with any luck I might actually get a competent T4 group before reset. I'm not holding my breath though.

Fucking awesome if you've got a decent static for Coil/EX, but it's pretty far from reality for a heap of the playerbase.

It isn't against you so much as a defense if you think about it. No elitist are doing titan HM except for achievements I suppose, the 900 myth to upgrade it will be better spent elsewhere for some time to come.

What makes the thread confusing, is that it seems like at least one of your posts was deleted and the ilevel73 thing came from someone that wasn't you. There is a huge difference between 65 and 73, being that a new player can hit 65 in a day while 73 precludes anyone that actually needs a relic. But like I said, it was bob13bob that threw that number out and in some people's mind it may have stuck to you. I would call someone who had 73 ilevel requirement for titan a dick, since they are essentially asking people they don't know to help them but not if they need it

I would imagine the quest part includes levequests which can net you a really good amount of gil on the way up. Most don't get that much because they just fated for the most part.

I mean, it could have been rmt money, but we have so little info, I love how people automatically assume the worst of the guy.

I've burned almost all my leves (Just checked, I've done a total of 779 levequests since I started. That's at least 4 months worth of allowances.) since I've started playing, with the majority on crafting and gathering (which almost always give more gil than battlecraft leves, especially considering how I was doing triple turn-in and turning in HQs a lot of the time). I'm only just about to hit the "1-million gil from levequests" achievement. I'm sure there are some people into it but you're not going to be making 3 million or whatever as a new player and it certainly wouldn't be in any way quick. I also took the allagan pieces for like half the quests on my first job to 50 and I only ended up with like 300k, I doubt you'd get much more even if you chose pieces every single time. That guy is just full of shit.
