I could be wrong, but I could have sworn brd was one of the easiest when it came to Maat next to whm.
I did mine on rdm, think it took my three tries. (fuck off rocl) Did it that video guide I am sure every rdm saw and prayed nothing got resisted.
rofl, I remember every rdm "needing" a hq wind staff back in the day just for that.
I was poking fun at the fact you had to defeat Maat to unlock the ability to level past 70. So if he did the RDM fight at 74, he had to have already beaten Maat on another job. So, 4 levels above the 'max' level + needing a full recharge = bad, dawg.
Maybe there was some cheese strategy that came out later, and like all Maat fights it was stupidly easy at 75 when you had actual gear, but as far as first-time fights, I believe it was considered one of the two hardest along with RDM.
Tried that strategy. Tried Tav Taco+Minne+Paeon strategy (I think this got me the closest besides dodge tanking). Tried Paeon+Mambo strategy. The problem I had with all of them is that Asuran Fists would fuck me up too hard. Also, I was Taru, so I had like fucking 900 hp without a subjob, maybe.
TOO LATE YOUR FACADE HAS FALLEN
bla mt
RDM69, NQ staves, no scroll, no moldy earring, no Chainspell. 1 for 1.
Honestly, I think most RDMs psyched themselves out of that fight. There was some luck in the resists, but I don't think it was as hard as advertised.
"Survival of the Wisest", on the other hand, I've been told was a total bitch, even at 75. I never did it myself, though - never got SCH past the low 50s.
I did it on NIN myself, most of the fight was easy (I did it at 66), but it's basically a luck roll to see if you survive Maat using an hero attack
I think it'd be cool if they did something that didn't simply involve fighting a guy, like with THF you could just steal something from him. Do that, except with less RNG, kinda like the extra dungeon in FF4. On PLD you have to cure and protect people, on a THF type class you have to MGS etc. Something that's actually both skill and lore relevant and not just a really hard fight with little context other than beating the shit out of an old man.
Return of a/the "mailing to alts" thread, 3 month necro from post 16: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...y-Box-our-Alts
This guy is amazing (responding to getting double maps/daily gil from having an alt):

Yeah, just looked through his post history. Kind of disappointing. I wished for a moment that someone was really that dumb.
All these threads popping up bitching the weekly lockout for coil 1-5 is going away.
ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS
To do new content that they said will be a progress lockout and a higher ilvl?
"Why did I even log in when I could get full i70 in a day?"
I think 1 item per turn per week is a fine compromise, but I hope the new content is turned with i90 as the expected "base line" the same way turns 1-2 have a base line of i70
Wrong thread
I just started reading that hate thread about Coil T1-5 being nerfed and found this beauty:
Wait up.. So i worked hard prior to 2.1 to get Myth Gear by farming AK and WP over and over hitting my cap every week.
I got I90 myth gear for my DRG then started working on I90 myth for my Whm...
they released 2.1 So i figured.. i would give it a shot.. Started working on WHM first.
Got 2 items so far... for WHM > i70 gear > hmmmm.. my i90 myth gear is better.
Explain to me... why i need to do COIL ? if my Myth gear is same stats i90
Only one thing i can think of... Vanity. So i worked hard to unlock myth gear while others took the harder route CB before 2.1.
I welcome the nerf Coil as . I dont need the gear.. but would like to obtain it.
