The guy said he's been clearing coil so I wouldn't say he is all that casual. Should probably link the same exact bitching that's going on in the BG coil thread too i.e. T7 woes.

Edit: Misread, he's been clearing 6-8, point still stands. People on both ends QQ about DPS being too stronk.

T7 woes are comical to me because people complain that their strategy can't be static and follow a set path to winning. At the same time so many people complain about the game not being "random" / dynamic enough. Slightly adjusting what players have to do is apparently hard. QQing everywhere!

With T7, though, its not random; it happens at a set percentage point, which is still a static part of the fight. The only "dynamic" part that comes with it is that you have to break from the "static" role of consistently DPSing and switch to a "dynamic" role of doing the manderville at certain parts until the static set of moves the boss uses hits the right spot so you can push safely.

I'm no "casual apologist" or anything, but I'll never -enjoy- content that makes you hold back to that degree. Smashing your face against the Keyboard via a Patchwerk DPS check is one thing, but dancing mid-fight because there's that much free time between safe points to push the next phase?

Meh.

no no no no no no no no no no no no you do not ever have to stop dps in t7. stopping dps is just one way to handle it.

unless you are 4 stacking, then it's the only way. but then you can't complain, it's like complaining about having to wait for enrage doing the t2 enrage strat

Hell, you don't HAVE to stop dps when you're stacking, either. We can just take the turn that's often regarded as the hardest because of the inconsistency and instant wipe potential and make it even more subjective to player error. Why do things the easy way when you can do it the "20 seconds faster but 30% success rate" way. How else will everyone know I have a MASSIVE dick if I don't post kill parses with lower durations than other groups?

the misconception that it's a 30% success rate is what I'm trying to address here. it's actually 100% with a one Renaud strat. please do not take things so personally.

You guys are vastly exaggerating some of T7 dps timing shenanigans and proving you can't adapt ever so slightly. Either way, I also don't mind and don't think that holding dps to have smooth phase transitions is a bad thing. Just another strat among the several people use.

And if you didn't obtain all that gear you just spent months doing Coil for your DPS wouldn't be at the point where you need to hold DPS. So just what is that gear for? And why are you bothering to get it if it's just forcing you to stop DPS and remove any benefit in increased DPS it might have given? The whole system is broken.

It isn't broken. It is about control. There's plenty of other content where gearing up lets you wreck the shit out of it in very entertaining fashions. Also, having high dps is a great safety net if something goes wrong, making it possible to recover where you couldn't before.

If you almost have enough to skip 2nd scourge but not quite, if you don't pull off Darnus you will push the transition as the 2nd scourge drops.

Yeah in all attempts last night we got to 11% a couple of times, all able to transition beautifully before a 2nd dragon considers popping. Though once it did get a little hairy.
