Spike TV announced today the launch of VGX, a brand new live digital multi-platform event that is a binge-viewers dream for gamers. This all-day gaming experience is the next generation of Spike TV’s “Video Game Awards” franchise and will be the most widely distributed live gaming event of all time with the potential reach of over 100 million households.

VGX will be streamed across Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Twitch, iOS and Android devices, and available globally on VGXLive.com, Hulu, Yahoo Screen, the Yahoo Screen app and Viacom Media Networks properties Spike.com, ComedyCentral.com, MTV.com, MTV2.com, BET.com and GameTrailers.com. VGX will be live streamed for three-hours on Saturday, December 7, beginning at 6:00 PM ET / 3:00 PM PT. Spike TV will also air highlights of the show as "VGX Replay" on Monday, December 9 at midnight.

VGX will continue the tradition of showcasing world premiere game trailers but for the first time ever, the show will offer extended demos of the next generation of games, 1-on-1 interviews and panels. The new format allows VGX to dive deeper into the world of gaming and extend its coverage beyond award presentations in a more intimate studio setting.

VGX will be an interactive experience with Twitter as the exclusive social media platform enabling viewers to have a direct impact on the stream by voting on show order and unlocking additional content. Fans will also have unprecedented access to the industry’s top developers and talent with Live Q&A interviews powered by Twitter.

Fans can start voting today for Most Anticipated Game on VGXLive.com while the rest of the nominees for VGX will be announced next week. Nominees are determined by the VGX Advisory Council, made up of a group of some of the most well-respected video game journalists from media outlets such as Entertainment Weekly, Game Informer, Joystiq, Kotaku, Polygon, IGN, GameTrailers, Gamespot, Wired.com, USA Today and Associated Press.

First VGX game reveal to be announced tonight at XBone's launch

Spike TV will announce its first official VGX world premiere at tonight’ Xbox One launch event in Times Square.

“Tonight we will be announcing our first official VGX world premiere inside Xbox: Day One Countdown on Spike at 11 PM and online,” host Geoff Keighley said on Twitter.

Given that it’s being announced at an Xbox launch event, expect it to be either an Xbox One exclusive or multiplatform title with close ties to the Xbox brand.

Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment are teasing a big Titanfall announcement for VGX on December 7, host Geoff Keighley confirmed.

Reggie Fils-Aime will attend to make an announcement

Nintendo will appear at Spike TV’s Video Game Awards, now known as VGX, for the first time this year, Nintendo of America president and chief operating officer teased on last night’s episode of GameTrailers TV.

“We may be making an appearance, we may have something special, we’ll see,” Fils-Aime teased.

According to show host Geoff Keighey, Fils-Aime himself is set to appear.

SE will have two new trailers

Square Enix marketing VP Karl Stewart confirmed the company’s appearance at the video game awards show on Twitter.

“Just reviewed the final cuts of both trailers we’re showing at next Saturdays @SpikeTV #VGX,” Stewart said. “Amazing stuff from the teams as ever. Cant wait.”

Previously, Square Enix teased news on a next-gen version of this year’s Tomb Raider at VGX. We imagine we’ll see either a trailer for that, or it’s sequel, and the next Deus Ex. (Update: Or Thief. Probably Thief.)

South Park: The Stick of Truth, Broken Age, Dying Light, Tom Clancy’s The Division, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and a Wii U game to get new trailers

VGX, the inaugural all-day live multi-platform gaming event, revealed today that it will include a special one-night only performance of the music of Grand Theft Auto V, featuring a host of artists from the game’s soundtrack and score, and streamed on VGXLIVE.com and across all screens and gaming devices worldwide.

VGX also announced that South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone will be on hand along with an exclusive sneak peek of the highly anticipated game South Park: The Stick of Truth. Additionally, VGX unveiled its first wave of exclusive world premieres that will be debuted during the three-hour live stream on Saturday, December 7, beginning at 6:00 PM ET / 3:00 PM PT.

The new VGX format dives deeper into the world of gaming and extends its coverage beyond awards presentations.
