Wadsworth got offended when I popped some Mentats. MENTATS. What a stuck in the mud.

Just had to retake an area from Super Mutants for a Brotherhood quest and encountered my first SUICIDE SUPER MUTANT. After laughing hysterically a few times and getting blown the fuck up, I finally through it. Your companions make excellent bait for the suicide mutants, just make sure you run the fuck away.

First time I encounters a super mutant bomber was an open field. They were passing and I was readying my shot. First time ever facing them. No idea what guns they have.

Dogmeat runs at em. I take two down, hear a loud beebing then a mini nuke explosion followed by dogmeat crying horribly. After I stopped laughing I patched him up.

    Those fuckers are quick too.

Still need to ask through. Is it possible or to get mods off guns and use them on other?

Are Legendary Enemies set or random? I just encountered 3 Legendary Super mutants at the hospital and got some sweet ass gear

Also, is there a way to break down guns and use the mods on other guns? I found an Incendiary Sniper thats just 10 points weaker than the one I built from the ground up. Would love to be able to just throw the parts from that onto the Fire Sniper. Same thing for a Shotgun
There's one in the sinkhole next to the hospital with the boomer mutant

Already played like 15 hours and I feel like I've barely scratched the surface. My 4 day weekend is here so the real fun starts now.

Anyone else playing this on Survival Mode? The drops/loot for legendary is supposed to be much higher, but I haven't played much and only come across one legendary rad roach.

I've been playing on Very Hard difficulty for a first playthru. Except for my underclothing and sunglasses every slot I'm wearing/weapon I use is a legendary.

Anyone have a good basic starting guide or tips? Not looking for a full game walkthrough (which doesn't really exist for these types of games), but I am not keen on missing some gun or basic crafting tip that takes me 20 hours to realize.

Downloaded the game overnight on Steam; will jump in tonight.

For the suicide mutants you can just shoot the arm holding the bomb to blow them up. Only ran into one and I took him and his friend out in one shot with VATS that way. Was glorious.

First Fallout here and requesting the same - the tip probably can't be simple enough.

For this Fallout particularly, if you haven't been keeping up with the thread:

If you Store Junk in your Workshop to use for crafting, the crafting system will Not Scrap leftovers from the Junk you are using. Meaning, the gun mod you want to craft needs Adhesive, but the only Adhesive you have comes from (X-item). As it turns out, X-item actually Scraps for Adhesive, Screws, and Steel. If you go ahead and create that gun mod with the (X-Item) you will Lose the leftover items, Screws, and Steel. Heck even if the item scraps for 4 Adhesive, and the Recipe only calls for 2, you will also lose those 2 leftover Adhesives.

Current Workaround - drop all your loot outside your workshop, go into Building Mode, and scrap everything you dropped.

Thanks; saw the Reddit post this morning and it's solid. What are you guys doing with perks and stats generally? I've heard STR / INT / CHR with some luck is a decent option, but I just have no idea on perk priority (just like every time I play Skyrim). I like crafting in these games, but I don't want to go for crafting-related perks early if they're generally more relevant with endgame crafting mats. Same with lockpicking/hacking; sometimes there is actually good reason to have these earlier. The only PC console command I'll likely use is the ability to reset perks at some point (unless that's in the game right now).

great thread for tips there. thanks

    question though: dude says this:

"You do not need to break down junk items to get components by hand the game will do it for you if the junk items are stored in your settlement workbench or inventory. Extra resources will be deposited in your settlement workbench.(It may take some time to appear)"

so do those extra mats eventually show up? or am i misunderstanding how this works?

From what I understood, no. Although, I have not done the experiment myself. Should be an easy test though. Find a mod, find the junk you need for it. Remove everything from workshop, make the mod and see if you have leftovers.

If someone could do try this out right now, would be great.

Early on i'm just boosting special stats particularly int and chr for boosted exp and dialogue options and I only picked up DT perk and carry weight. Remember there is no level cap.

Yes, you do not have to drop items and scrap them to get all materials. Leaving them with the work bench will break apart the item for you when a item is used for material, nothing is wasted the visual is just bugged this has been proven.

also, if there's no level cap doesn't that mean something like idiot savant is pretty amazing?
