Does having shitty settlements affect quest progression in any way? Like, if Starlight Drive-in needs more water, I build a few pumps and move on; same for food, defenses, etc. In short, I don't care much about the settlements currently at all and will continue to do so unless it cock blocks me from something later.

What is wrong with my settlements. Some of them have like 30 food and 30 water plenty of power defense and people, but every time i leave the fucking town the data sheet says it lacks water defense and beds and has that stupid fucking exclaimation point next to it. Is this just a PC bug? This is mostly happening in sanctuary.
Also i cant get that stupid fucking worthless vault tec rep to do anything in town. I try to assign him jobs and he wont accept them, nothing happens. And i lost my dog. i have no idea where he got sent to but i cant find his ass. this game needs a blip on the map for companions

Its a glitch that has to do when you leave the area. Just ignore it

Find a vendor with ammo > Buy all ammo of that type > Sell 1 ammo, but dont finalize. Sell the rest. It should leave you with one phantom ammo that you can sell infinite of until said vendor is broke. Gonna be patched most likely so get it while you can. Useful for that early game super expensive legendary armor vendors sell.

You're a bit wrong on how it works.

Has to be the top ammo, has to be about 20+ bullets. If the vender isn't 20+ Bullets, you can sell the Ammo of their top type to be 20+, leave menu, go back. It doesn't always need to be 20+ but a lot of the time it doesn't wor

Of course cheating makes everything easier. It's cheating. But it also makes it less fun because you're not playing the game as intended and it cheapens the entire experience. I don't understand why people even bother to play if they're going to use console commands to give themselves infinite everything of whatever they want

Yeah, I used console to double my weight limit. Now I just don't ever trade stuff to my companion. Some cheating is just for QoL.

I have it high enough so I can finish a whole quest and then head back to town. Having to leave midquest is immersion-breaking and pretty annoying. I'd also rather not waste perk points into the weight unlocks as I'm not using STR at all.

Doesn't have to be top. Been doing it since like last Wednesday. The 20+ sounds right though. I've been doing it with the 2nd one almost every time. Do it in Diamond City all the time with .38 ammo.
