Woe is anyone who argues with Church. He rarely goes about the arguments the right way, but he's also very rarely wrong.
Fallout 4 is absolutely a shooter, albeit one with effectively zero skill barrier involved.
It's almost like the game has multiple different ways you can play it.
If we're using loose enough definitions to classify Fallout 4 as a FPS, then by that logic all games are RPGs because in every game you play a role. Like Pacman for example, you're role playing as a yellow circle that eats dots and ghosts!

I find myself doing more FPS style play because VATS is so inaccurate, at least in comparison to how I played FO3 and NV which was almost strictly all VATS.
If VATS isn't working for you, you're not investing in the right perks or stats. The baseline is less accurate than starting in Fallout 3 but if you buff it up it's even more ridiculously OP than in 3. Especially with crit stuff since you can't even crit outside of VATS. Not to mention any VATS shot has a damage bonus regardless
This is correct, I have no perks in VATS. Just too many other stuff I wanted to get first @.@
Each his own but I use VATS pretty much anytime it's available. Gotta love them crits.
I'm not sure what the hell is going on. But FO4 is an FPS with (extremely) light RPG elements. IE: Borderlands.
Just found a short hunting rifle with double damage to targets at full health. Immediately mod to sniper rifle build. Feeling pretty sexy.
Oh man I keep forgetting to take mods off weapons and put them on my shit.
