Apparently they dont want Mods because Bethesda refuses to do any QA on mods.
tbh I can see why they'd want to limit mod access on their console considering mods have the ability to do some nasty things if the author is so inclined. there is verifiably 0 curation on Bethesda's end and there is no approval process to have a mod put on to bethesda.net, so.. yeah. affects more than just people stealing mods, also affects the quality of the mods and the ability for bad things to slip through the cracks.
Yeah, wasn't there a way to make the console crash or something with them? I think it was posted in this topic.

Yeah. Besides that you can completely destroy saves and cause a reset loop preventing people from accessing their save games
If people want to risk fucking up their console that should be their choice.
Eh i can see. Large number of busted systems would make Sony look bad.
While it's an issue, I haven't heard it being brought up as one of any major consequence for the Xbone version.
Either way, mod support was advertised as a defining feature of both of these games, and Sony themselves killing it isn't a good look.
I mean, as long as mods people have for consoles can't brick the console themselves, I see no issue, as long as shit is reversable in the long run it should really not be an issue.
Spoiler: show
also,
This is pretty incredible. All done on XB1 version with no mods according to the creator.

Ps4 version is now getting mods (and PS4 Pro support).
However, Sony will not allow the mods to have any external assets, so lol
Well, there are still a lot of unused assets in the game.
Explain this to someone dumb. ie me.
PS4 is poopy garbage and PC is the way to play Fallout 4.
No new weapons, costumes (even retextures), music, sound effects, characters/character creation mods, etc. In other words, everything you'd actually expect from mods won't be possible.
Probably just going to see boring vanilla style quests and maybe some tweaked number values on stats/gear.
Looks like November at the earliest for mod support in Fallout.

More excited for PS4 Pro support than mods. I'm glad they were able to figure something out for both this and skyrim in the end rather than just saying fuck it.
They might as well have said fuck it, mods will be useless on PS4. At least they can claim that they're on equal footing with the other platforms, since most people likely wouldn't read the fine print.
