Considering how much you are willing to spend, it's definitely worth it if you max meld them. I came up with the same choices as well and decided on head/feet and they worth every bit for me. Head piece with 21 Crit 21 Parry 18 Acc 12 Dtr, feet with exactly the same stats. Really makes up for the acc loss elsewhere, for me atleast since I decided on not getting soldiery body first.
Weathered weapons are the same ilvl as Animus and Tidal weapons. Prioritizing acc weapons for those hurting for accuracy sounds like a good plan to me.Yeah, I was surprised by that too. Generally not a smart play, but if you're in no rush to get through T8 I guess it doesn't matter much.
Can't speak for WARs but I don't have the Noct body yet because I was hoping High Allagan would come from an earlier turn. Burtgang kinda sucks though so I've just been sitting on my tomes for now.
Can anyone give any suggestions for gear upgrade paths that they're doing for WAR? I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I'm barely meeting the accuracy requirements for coil2, and I own Weathered Noct Legs/Body/Ring. I do not own the turn-5 axe or head, so I'm having difficulty deciding what to buy next (if anything) because almost everything (except earring, I guess? or gloves, but I don't want to buy those) will drop my accuracy to a level that's probably unacceptable. Right now I feel like, without the H.A. Helm from Turn 6, I can't really buy anything with my soldiery unless we clear T7 and I get the weapon.
Is anyone else running into this issue?
You need to just suck it up and find some way to farm T5 for the axe. I have an abundance of ACC because of melded wolfram head / feet / W. noct hands, and I use HA choker, Allagan earrings, HA bracelet, W. Noct ring, hero's fending, all of which have large chunks of ACC so I can use either Bravura or Levi Axe as I see fit.
There is no way around the T5 being the easiest, cheapest, and overall best solution to your problem though.
Heaven's Eye*
Don't be me, and buy a bunch of Savage Aim's to meld, thinking Aim = Accuracy.
But yeah, I looked at my WAR options of either pugging more T5, or just melding up a Wolfram Helm. Money well spent.
Let's talk about Novus:
Assuming all secondary stats are equally easy to apply and equally customizable, what are people considering for their axes? I'm personally a bit torn because here's what we're looking at:
HA Battleaxe: DMG53 Parry 46 ACC 32
This is pretty much the ideal tanking axe, and while yes, if you don't have any chance of getting HABA anytime soon, it's pretty obvious that a tank Novus is the way to go. But for those of us who stand a chance of getting it within at least ~4-6 weeks (making having to redo the axe probably a giant pain in the ass) what are we left with?
Well making a tank Novus seems pretty silly, we'd just be making a shittier version of HABA, but what about making a DPS axe? Well given that HABA will have higher base damage, can we stack enough Crit / DET to overcome that gap? Conqueror is 51 damage so assuming a 2 base damage difference, that's 16 STR from base damage and 3 STR from 5 ilvls to overcome. It seems unlikely we can assemble any amount of Crit / DET to overcome 19 STR difference.
There's the possibility of making a super defensive tank axe and doing Parry / Skill speed for marginally lower downtime between inner beasts, but this really doesn't seem worth it.
tl;dr I'm really interested to hear from WARs who have cleared T8 and even T9 about what they're doing for their Novus. I'm stumped.
I don't think the Novus will have much use, to be honest. I'm building one for fun, but HA + Conquerer will generally exceed it.
The only way you could really build the Novus into something useful is if you found an interesting Skill Speed threshold for WAR (triple IB or something) or the BiS build ended up not needing Acc on the weapon. This is actually possible since thinks like HA pants give insane Acc.
In the end the Novus is more for casual/non-raiders, and I feel like it's been itemized as such for a lot of the classes.
Well even on the Conqueror front (let's assume it takes you 20+ T9 kills to get HABA, thanks RNG) you're given ~40 ACC and ~30 crit. Given stuff like HA pants, and other shit (currently I'm i103 with 554 ACC using Wave Axe) one could argue doing like 30 DET 30 ACC on Novus to keep some of the BiS ACC requirement while getting a bit more DPS for your buck.
Though it still comes back down to the question of is it worth it? I genuinely don't know, lol.
Part of why I brought up SKS is because I'm equally interested in finding out some top secret SKS threshold for 3x IB or some shit. If you loaded on like 44 SKS and stacked it in other places while using HQ Eft Steaks or the like I wonder...
Edit:
Never mathed out SKS before so please correct me where I'm wrong, but I tried to back of the napkin out some SKS numbers, join me for bad math:
Assuming starting at 4 wrath stacks with maim + eye up and a GCD value equal to mine at 2.47 seconds:
Bersek -> 2.47s -> IB -> 2.47 -> Inf -> 2.47 -> IB -> 2.47 -> 5x 2.47 for from scratch wrath build = ~22s
If this method of calculating SKS is correct, SKS would need to be stacked such that GCD time is maximized at 2.22s. I don't know how preempting GCD by mashing buttons factors into these calculations so if any of you do, please correct. As is, a reduction of .25s on GCD from SKS seems insurmountable short of being given GL3.
Ultimate DPS set? Anyone have one? Is it as simple as "Wear Slaying stuff in accessories?"
Trying to maximize my performance as OT on T8
Pretty much.

I don't play Warrior outside of maybe a dungeon a week, but does this break any rule for achieving this 3 IB malarkey? :
Build to 4 Wrath
Heavy Swing > Berserk > IB
Build to 4 Wrath + Vengeance thrown in there somewhere > IB
Infuriate > IB
I've got a 2.48 second GCD and this worked :s I got 3 IB while under the effect of Berserk.
Just recently changed my 30 points to STR and went to all STR accessories on my WAR and have been very happy. Seems like I take a lot less damage because mobs die faster, snap aggro is better, and better dps for the fight. I off-tank turn 6, 7, and 9 for my static on STR Warrior and MT with PLD on turn 8. If you're looking for first soldiery piece to go with, I agree with Sath, go with the Conquerer if you are able.
