In what situation would you want to squeeze out 3 IBs during a berserk? Just curious, as I haven't run into a place where I wouldn't be saving IB, using Unchained instead, or just not in Defiance at all.

So, back to the Novus discussion.
It's obvious that HA beats it, but the same could be said for any job. I never got a single weapon from Twintania (my only T5 loot is a freelot BRD belt, which my retainer wears), so call me skeptical on my ability to ever get what I want out of Nael. My group is still on T8, so we haven't even started on him.
So, ignoring HA Axe, what would/will anyone be doing with their Bravura Novus?
• Keep max Parry with no accuracy? (Parry+44, Det+31)
• Keep max Parry but stack accuracy? (Parry+44, Acc+31)
• Make a DPS axe that's superior to Conq? (Det+31 Crit+44)
• Make a DPS axe that's superior to Conq but retains it's accuracy (presumably for OT duties)? (Det+31 Acc+44)
• Something else in between?
I'm currently leaning toward a bit of a hybrid (assuming you can do that) with max Parry (+44), some acc (+20?) and the rest Det (+11?)
My answer to all this: You can always find accuracy somewhere else. My Bravura Novus will be CRIT+44/DET+31 because that is the only thing that makes sense right now and probabaly for a long time. Parry+44 won't mean much even if WAR becomes more of a "MT" in the future (highly doubt the community's opinion/approach will make this a reality).
You might as well make a DPS axe OR a tanking axe and ignore the idea of a hybrid. You'll just be disappointed in not committing to one thing or the other, and TBH DPS seems to make more sense imo.
HA set has more accuracy than god so i'd have a hard time imagining any scenarios where i'd want my weapon to have it.
I think people forget that IB is 300 potency per GCD and doesn't require a combo. Since the stacks build while tanking normally, the ability has the highest average potency per GCD (single target) of anything you can do as WAR. If you don't need to save Vengeance for some other big hit, might as well go for the triple.
I didn't forget about nothin'. You gain more DPS from using wrath on unchained and than you do with IB. I was wondering if there was some specific part of a fight where three IBs would line up perfectly with a berserk window and also mitigate some big hits, since I haven't actively been looking for opportunities. Because off the top of my head:
In t6 I berserk/unchained at the start and don't really pay attention to how I use berserk and IB. I guess I save berserk sometimes for bees, sometimes IB for swipes, sometimes IB a bulb to help burst it.
In t7 I'm saving IB/vengeance for add tail swipes and berserk to control the third melee add, then I'm out of defiance for the rest of the fight until the last add when I berserk/vengeance/thrill/IB/omgwtfbbq. Triple IB here?
In t8 I run monk. Triple IB potentially useful here for dreads?
In t9 when I ran OT WAR I needed berserk at certain times to just barely sneak in an IB before every ravensclaw and ravensbeak. For golems, I'm only in defiance until boulder clap, then it's right back out. For ghosts, I'm saving berserk for when I swap out of defiance to help burst when they start casting. Can't see any point where you would triple IB.
I run PLD now because sword, but my WAR is 30 STR. I don't have a strong opinion about stat allocation. My initial problem was that I had more 110 STR accessories than VIT ones, since early on I passed on VIT for our MT and we had a couple repeat STR drops. I would run STR accessories until I died or cut it too close on a crit, then I would swap back to VIT accessories. Then if we failed to meet some dps check, like if a ghost got off its cast or something, I would switch back to STR acc. Very wishy washy. Not sure it made too much of a difference, to be honest. Either way is doable.
Depends on how much gear you have, I'd say as long as you can have 9k HP then you're ok in T9.
Unchained's cooldown is 30s longer than Berserk, so triple IB is still nice. I triple IB Avatar whenever possible, just so I stick around the 200 DPS mark while tanking. The extra mitigation is nice for keeping the SCH in Cleric, although at this ilvl it probably isn't needed.
I WAR MT all of T9, triple IB is useful here in phase 1 too if you want to push Meteors. I don't bother with it on the dangerous Ravensbeak since the OT PLD just uses cover there (I was really surprised this works, lol)
In regards to the other topic, I'm thinking of going 30 STR. Currently at 10450 HP with food, which seems like it's probably needlessly high at this point. Makes for some pretty beastly Lustrates, I guess
So I think I have finally decided on the stats I want for my Novus based on the best set I can currently construct around it. This isn't the most future-proof way to go about it but if anyone has better suggestion lemme know. Definitely want to get this off my mind since the stat decision has been bugging me for some time now.
Here's the set: http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/MX28 (DPS/OT WAR for those wondering).
I had actually been juggling around some options for builds like that myself, though I was leaning a little more towards something like 20 acc/24 crit/31 det. Although I do like the idea of shifting 9 accuracy points into crit instead of going the full 20.
So been out of the game for awhile. WAR still putting stats into VIT or into STR now since the buffs to make us not paper thin?
VIT until you're i90+ on left side at least. Then STR is good.
Late getting back to you, but I think going 25 ACC and even just using a better food (HQ Black Truffle Risotto) is a better idea. Lose 41 crit from Animus + Omelet but gain back 11 from Risotto + 17 DET. So - 30 Crit + 17 DET and have some extra ACC floating around for future-proof scenario + being able to switch to HA Slaying wrist for any position other than front.
Probably comes out more or less the same, but also have to factor the ~2-4mil worth of Savage Aim IV.
Was tossing that exact setup into the calculator a couple days ago. I may end up rolling with that in the end. Coming to the point where I really gotta finalize this. Thanks for the suggestions.
