reminds me of the racist regatta SAT question shit
The complaint about "racist" SAT questions used this one as an example:
"Car is to road race as (blank) is to regatta"
Supposedly, it was racist to expect a minority kid to know that a regatta is a sailing race, because most minority kids had never seen a regatta or a sailboat.
im white and i didnt know that until just now. thats a fucking stupid question
I'm white and went to university and only "remembered" the word after being told (again) what it means
that is dumb to the point that it legitimately infuriates me
the idea of it being racist, not the question
i knew the answer was sailboat. I'm smrt
in white and one of my undergrad majors was African American history. Every exam I took in retrospect was racist. I'm white, I don't gotta know this shit nigga please.
I've also heard an SAT question like that before, where they ask which animal you wouldn't see in your town: dog, cat, rabbit, or giraffe (or something like that).
Thing is, in Philadelphia where the zoo is, there's lots of lower-income housing nearby, and so a giraffe WOULD be in their town.
Again, a stretch that it's "racist" because it's such a niche case, but yeah that's the idea
Jesus christ.
I read the news on Wednesday night, but I've been horribly busy since then and haven't had time to post or process. Now it's just kind of hitting me like a ton of bricks.
I love all of you. This really sucks. God, I hope his family's ok.

I know you take your anger out on me because deep down youre hurt, but i'll always be there for you, too.
