I actually would have liked them to keep it in, but add ways to mitigate it through gameplay. Like change one of the social links to improve social links relationships a la P5, not have naganaki shrine take a whole time segment, or the Yukari cooking thing to remove fatigue.

But I did hear a rumor about Tartarus potentially being like 500 floors, so the removal overall may just be better than keeping it in and tweaking adjacent stuff.

It does sound overall though easier to max social links in one playthrough. I remember in OG P3 you had like a 2 day buffer to max everyone, though with some rigid structure on when you upped some relationships or else the entire attempt was fubar.

Alright just started P5 Royal for the first time. Originally had the TYH edition but stopped playing after the first castle, this'll be my first full playthrough of any version.

At the end of summer now. I have romanced Yukiko and Chie and Rise so far. The beach scene I get was very “anime” but Teddie has gone from being creepy to outright being a molester and it being played for laughs is…hoo boy, that’s a choice.

I already maxed out Nanako S Link and she asked me to spend a week helping her with homework and I turned her down cause I didn’t want to waste all that time, the game sure does guilt trip you when you come home and she is stuck in her room all week. But Dojima did warn her not to wait until the last minute!

This game didn’t come out THAT long ago but from a 2023 POV, yikes. Between Teddie being a molester with every woman and oogling Nanako on top of that, Kanji coming out-but-not-really, and the Naoto dungeon delving into gender dysphoria and the cross dressing pageant played for laughs…I could see how getting a modern P4 remake could be a bit problematic for Atlus.

For some reason I found Teddy to be less annoying than Morgana. Though Strikers made him more tolerable for me.

One thing I’ve really noticed in these games is how much they lean in to Japanese food and make it so much of the story, idk if they are trying to go hard weeb on it but there’s so much emphasis on sushi and ramen and takoyaki etc it’s pretty cringe imo. Like if there was a Persona game set in America would they be emphasizing pizza and cheeseburgers and Buffalo wings and shit? Prob not. Just weird lol

do u really not understand the difference between that and how Persona can be outwardly anti-gay/trans while being pro the sexualization / objectification / harassment of every attractive girl in sight

i mean for 5's Royal Edition they already changed up the scene where the game's only gays kidnapped an underage Ryuji against his will played for laughs so sure they'll adapt 4 some as well. Japan is still pretty backwards when it comes to gay rights (still no marriage woo) but they're catering more and more to a Western audience now and Atlus at least seems increasingly aware of it.

The dungeon in reference from Anoat I didn't have a problem with as a lot of trans youth wrestle with those same issues.
