Been trying to convince my wife to at least let me put in 2k (she wouldn't let me 2 years ago maybe she will now). She might let me roll in 1k or just make me pay back what I lose. Idgi I've increased her 401k by 60% in 2 years and she doesn't trust me still. What I really want to do is use 20k of that lol. I'd rather do the ruke way and turn my garage into a farm.

Most of us used coinbase to buy coins, transfer to gdax, then transfer to binance or whatever you want to use. Depending on the coin and what you want to do there might be better ways depending on fees and whatnot.

Easy mode is buy Ltc and straight transfer to binance. I probably would have saved more money going through gdax but it's super quick and I wanted to get in on the pump lol.

Buying BTC during this huge dip was one of the few times you should. There are still areas where you want to have BTC and getting it cheap helps.

Standardized values of BTC per token in ICO is a good example.

Finding somebody who is knowledgeable and passionate about something and letting them just ramble at you about why they are excited about what they are excited about is how I learn the majority of things in my life.

Obviously for investing you then go research and confirm for yourself, but if you start with zero initial knowledge and look at all the coins out there - it’s an impossible task. Especially when you really want to narrow down to like 4-7 mains and you have no firm background in the underlying tech at all.

I learned a lot about POWR yesterday from a dude who just went on and on and on to me in PM in discord with links and sources and business plans and stuff because he feels really strongly about the tech. I now own POWR shares.

Only hard part is sorting out good ideas & advice vs. people drinking the kool-aid and/or trying to pump a coin for gains... the latter of which is really easy to get caught-up in with all this money flying around.

Bisq, Bittrex, HitBTC, ShapeShift, and Coinspot (AU) are the current available options.

Shapeshift is the easiest if you can't get on Bittrex, as it doesn't even require an account or signing up. But the Sia trading is on/off available.

Im still confused about the forking- if you own 50 sia at the fork what happens? You now own 50 old sia and 50 new sia?

For all intents and purposes here, just the 50 new Sia.

Technically, you'll also have 50 old Sia, but for all intents and purposes it's useless and you'll never see it/be able to use it. If no one is supporting it, no one is developing for it, no one is mining it, no one is trading it, no one is using it whatsoever... it's useless.

It's like if your credit card company sent you a chip-enabled card but you refused to change over from your old card, except that same day every vendor changed over to only accept chip-enabled cards. Sure, you still have your old card, but it's useless.

Before I spend some cash on Sia, is it worth it to get some if I want to "set it and forget it." This upcoming fork thing has me nervous that if I don't pay attention to it for a while that it may be work much less.

In my opinion, yes - absolutely.

I could see Sia shooting up to similar prices as Ripple in the not-to-distant future (as they have a similar supply of coins), barring any market-wide crashes.

It's an automated way to exchange cryptos for other cryptos, without needing to so much as make an account (much less verify an identity). It works flawlessly, so long as you don't mess up the relatively simple process. Just make sure to save/screen shot your receipts, otherwise it's impossible to file a support ticket if you do mess up.

You're that confident? I'm behind the idea but was just listening to some talk about how STORJ is fairly similar and a bit further along in the tech. This was very recent and I haven't looked into it / haven't bought into the idea yet but figured you might be a good authority to discuss with.

But yeah, it's hard to see how to get Sia from $.20 to $1.50-$2.00 with the road map that they have out now, but I'm fine with being optimistic.

And how do these work? Are they integrated into your computer or are they completely stand-alone gpu computing machines that just need your power?
