TRON is one of the clearest examples of why so many people think we're in a delusion FOMO-driven bubble.

They'll do a burn soon and Justin will probably go into promotion overdrive to stop the bleeding before he finishes cashing out enough of his stake before the whole house of cards collapses. Its amusing watching him reduce his stake it on the blockchain explorer and most TRX holders having no clue what is happening, or what this even means. That "private investor" allocation to himself which is now down to 7.7% is still worth over a billion dollars.

What's amazing is he managed to convince so many people that there is some sort of partnership with Alibaba and that Alibaba will use their coin....because he paid money to go to Jack Ma's Hupan University, and took a picture with Jack Ma at an completely unrelated speaking event that Ma gave. I mean you can even see the mic on his shirt for god's sake and people still bought it. This guy is going to become ridiculously wealthy off scamming naive millennials. And he's going to get away with it, instead of being arrested and prosecuted like in a regulated securities market. Which means this will only encourage more and more scam coins.

ETH has been doing lovely, despite the sea of red across most altcoins. Likewise to others here it's ~70% of my portfolio, so this past week has been fantastic.

Though, actually, most of my alts are still up over the past 7 days (GNT, XMR, SIA). Just Stellar and Ripple down, though as Sath said I think Stellar will easily recover and is a good long-term hold. Ripple on the other hand definitely needed a significant correction.

So I'd like to get into mining since I have the hardware albeit this won't make me rich.

Before this thread I never knew there are so many different types of cryptocurrency. I'm wondering if anyone could point me into the right direction for a somewhat beginners guide. I know I can ask Google, but I'd like some suggestions from experienced people.
The recent explosion in ETH prices and the cryptomarket as a whole has reignited the mining boom, so graphics cards and other popular mining equipment (risers, high power PSUs, etc.) are going to be incredibly hard to find.

The market was going through a similar boom back when I first started. I used e-mail subscriptions setup across a few different GPUs, from here:
    https://www.nowinstock.net/computers...vidia/gtx1070/

The second a listing popped up I'd order as many as I could (usually a max of 2), and then create another account and order more through my work address & a different credit card, and repeat it again for another address & card. Did this a few times and I had enough to get started.

The real hard part are the risers and power supplies, but if you search around enough you can find them somewhere. Amazon, Newegg, Newegg business, B&H, Best Buy, etc., or even Ebay.

I'm thinking about doubling down on my mining hardware now, but unsure. Direct investment more profitable in the short term and possible even the long term, with ETH switching out of mining sometime in 2018 (likely towards the end, though). I legitimately enjoy running a little mining operation though, and can write it all off as business expenses now.

I thought coins mooned when they hit binance? Isn’t that what happened with APPC or whatever the other day?

Vibe was just added to binance. I've watched it go from 2-6$ in like 5 minutes. Wish I went in for the pump and dump but I feel like it's too late. It's at +350% now

WELP, I'm officially out of liquidity til some coins start popping off, do yourselves a favor and look into ENG/ZRX/QSP/ZCL/ONION/VRC/DBC

For a cheap risky gainer check out HTMLcoin atm as well.

Supposedly the Market will be red for another day or so due to South Koreans being locked out of exchanges until the 20th while the government sorts out a plan to tax crypto exchanges along with China possibly regulating bitcoin mining. There are a few blockchain conferences coming up in the next few weeks so we should see a slight return to normal hopefully.

Do you have a specific wallet or pool you'd suggest for mining ethereum? And any other advice is greatly appreciated!

whattomine.com usually gives a nice start to see how much you can make per day based on card, but know that the prices may be slightly off. Software wise, there are a few options but I don't have enough experience with them to give out the full differences. Awesome Miner allows you to switch to the more profitable pools on the fly, while Claymore I believe allows you to dual mine ETH and another coin such as SAI.

I've tried a couple of the calculators from a google search and the majority state at 13.71 kwh I'd lose my ass.

    I have a 1070, 970, and a 270x 4gb that I can use. If I'm understanding these calculators, I'd essentially lose $43 a day using the 1070.

That sounds a bit high unless your electricity is expensive. The 1070 should be around 140 watts per card and you have to tweak it with software usually to lower the power down to 60-70% which further reduces the wattage. That should be 3.3 kWh/day per card base not including the base wattage of your system (CPU, Mobo, Solid State Drive, Fans, etc).
