Antican Axe = its ilvl applies to BST pet?

I noticed finally there's a high level (113/119 I think?) axe available that can be purchased on AH, the Antican Axe https://www.bg-wiki.com/bg/Antican_Axe

Not sure what its ilvl is but as I wondered if the ilvl on it will apply to BST pets because it has no pet stats, if it even works like that. Otherwise, I never bothered to pick up the expansion but to me this represents the first opportunity I can purchase a significant ilvl weapon for BST that's not that shitty ilvl 101 one.

My plan was to just enjoy (wreck) current content without dipping into SoA realms and this axe lets me do so (I realised the significance of them when I witnessed a fellow BST down Fafnir in less than 2 mins compared to my 6-10 min stints).

Reason for this question is because all current (as far as I know) axes that are higher than 101 are Rare/Ex and has pet stats, so I wondered about this particular one

Yes, iLvl main hand weapons will affect your pet level, depending on the pet's natural cap/Beast Affinity merits.

Since you don't have SoA but still want to get the most out of your BST as-is, you should definitely get Antican Axe.

Edit: So what is the iLvl on the new BCNM weapons? 109?

    antican axe is iLvl109

if you're looking at the items outside of the game and cant figure out the item level, looking at the numeric value of the weapon skill bonus can help.

the lowest lv that appears to have skill + is 105.
    105's skill + is 54
    106's - 67
    107's - 76
    108 - 89

    those are the easy ones..

109 is 108.. and from there on there seems to be a lack of unity here and there.. altho most ilv117 weapons give 220 weapon skill, 118 - 233 and 119 -242.
the relationship as u can see.. is not linear.

to your question, with Antican Axe, it'll mean that your pets will cap at 109, provided your Beast Affinity allows it to reach 109 or more to begin with.

You're not limited to axes in any case. if you don't mind using a Scythe, last rest will do the same thing for you as far as pet levels are concerned.

    Ohh I see, thanks.

At the time (before this patch) there wasn't anything else to use. Still, I'll take an extra 10 (from 99) levels on my pet over a measly 1/2 (the 100/101 axe) if it means my pet can be that much more effective. I won't mind using a scythe either if I can grab it. I'm aiming more on the axe so I can offhand my Ridill for faster damage output where possible

The largest stat increase occurs in the jump from level 99 -> level 100, actually (with the exception of HP, which only starts increasing from level 101 onwards). XD

You'll definitely notice the additional pet power with the iLvl 109 axe - enjoy!

Out of curiosity, why don't you want SoA expansion?

Currently playing FFXIV (since August) but I keep forgetting to unsub, so I have another month before it expires. So I just want something slightly powerful to clear older content for myself before putting it to rest until the next time, rather than spending more money (despite having the sub running).
