As it has been said it really does seem like McD's didn't want to invest heavily into something they (for whatever reason) thought wasn't going to be as popular as it was so they only sent out limited quantities. This is a PR nightmare and they will probably rectify it by a general release at all stores.

When I was there, I said fuck it and got a 4 piece with the new signature sauce so that I could get a free coupon for another 4 piece- I thought the new sauce was really good (tastes kind of like the Bloomin' Onion sauce at Outback).

Truth be told I'm a little surprised McDonald's was so stupid. Maybe it was all a test though. Anyone remember the picture of the 3ds "It prints money"? They could just charge $1 per cup for this sauce that costs them 2 cents to make and make so much god damn schmeckles. However I agree with above after this and seeing how many lost their minds over this a general wide release is inevitable.

I don't see a general release happening. This was a one and done. One 3 minute reference to a sauce in a show isn't going to get them to put it back on the menu even temporarily. The cost associated with it is far too high for far too low of a demand.
