They just streamlined side quests so that you don't need to play multiple times just to see a different ending.
Not really any spoilers but explaining in more detail:
Side quests are about making a choice. It's a lot of "no right answer" type stuff. When you first complete the quest, you'll get a crappy ending that just boils down to edea going "omg did we do the right thing?!?qq".
Later in the game, you get to do a more streamlined version of the same quest. If you make the same choice, you get the "true ending" that gives some satisfaction to your choice.
You get a different job based on what choice you make. That means to see the true ending of the side quest you need to either give up on one of the jobs or wait to get the job on a new game plus.
This had a lot of negative feedback in Japan. Too many play throughs to get all the scenes, and the first ending just left a bad taste in people's mouths.
So they streamlined the side quests so you don't get the incomplete ending, and you can get both jobs and other endings in a single playthrough.
If they were to do a "for the sequel" type remake/remaster in Japan, you can bet they'd port those changes over.
