There is no cut story content.

They just streamlined side quests so that you don't need to play multiple times just to see a different ending.

Not really any spoilers but explaining in more detail:

Side quests are about making a choice. It's a lot of "no right answer" type stuff. When you first complete the quest, you'll get a crappy ending that just boils down to edea going "omg did we do the right thing?!? qq".

Later in the game, you get to do a more streamlined version of the same quest. If you make the same choice, you get the "true ending" that gives some satisfaction to your choice.

You get a different job based on what choice you make. That means to see the true ending of the side quest you need to either give up on one of the jobs or wait to get the job on a new game plus.

This had a lot of negative feedback in Japan. Too many play throughs to get all the scenes, and the first ending just left a bad taste in people's mouths.

So they streamlined the side quests so you don't get the incomplete ending, and you can get both jobs and other endings in a single playthrough.

If they were to do a "for the sequel" type remake/remaster in Japan, you can bet they'd port those changes over.

Don't forget replacing a Native American based job with a Cowboy based job for fear of offending Native Americans... which actually may be more insulting to Native Americans.

Honestly, the cowboy theme makes A LOT more sense than the native american theme. There was nothing native american about the job or the character at all. It uses GUNS, for crying out loud. I'm pretty sure that one would see a change in a remake in Japan as well, maybe, probably. Idk harder to say on that one.

Also, the side quests are all completely optional and their own mini-stories, completely separate and stand alone from the main story.

is this and FE a good enough reason to buy a 3DS? I'm considering buying one friday. Hell, I'd buy the first Bravely Default, too.

Dunno about this one yet, but Bravely Default was amazing. If you played any of the old FE games, you'll probably enjoy Fates. It's got a really good balance for fans of the older games (Conquest) and fans who came in with Awakening (Birthright).

You gotta be fucking kidding me.

My game froze/crashed and I lost my save since I last booted.

Lost the last two jobs (which had longish side quests) and all of the jp grinding I did (was about 66% done mastering everything)

UGH l guess I'm done with this game... -_-

I could easy mode to catch up to where I was, which might save me an hour or so, but I'm still going to have to do at least 3-4 hours of grinding all over again.

I also lost the golden baal I received from some random person that had the unearthly buns for stealing :<<<

Worth finishing the demo before jumping into the game?

I'm at the part where I'm about to go find the lost kid. I probably won't grind everything out for all the extras since it would take less time to just farm gil instead, but worth finishing for w/e story content it provides? or just jump straight into BS?

pretty much only get inconsequential items from the demo packs. can get 20 villagers but that requires you streetpassing them or actually finding a MAC address that everyone is using for homepass with this which is quite difficult as it turns out

Too bad you can't exploit the villager thing like in the first game's demo.

Not entirely sure you're missing too much besides the few random items in the demo. I think the demo's story may be a prequel to the actual game? Doesn't really take too long to get through though if you just want to finish it and not care about the play bonuses.

Guess I'm late to the party, but I just started today. I already had Julian and rata in my Friends from other 3DS games, and didn't see anyone else post their codes in this thread.

I don't really have any extra space for friends in my 3ds, but anyone who already has me, I should have everything unlocked/capped out, and I'm sending out a ba'al that you can steal unearthly buns from late game.

Play the demo. It makes what happens in the prequel have that much more impact.

Also this game is hilarious. There's a crab named Enemy Crab which has an attack called Massive Damage.
