Wat. I sincerely hope this is not the case. I was thinking, and a few people mentioned this, about the WoW raid finder thingy. Why not just make it one piece per boss per week? If that were the case, you'd get 4. Ideally, people want to be able to run it again on other jobs. If they stick to the 1 per week, they need to allow you to loot on multiple jobs or people are just gonna bail once they get their 1 loot.

Gotta give incentive. There's way easier ways to earn mythos and freakin' philos. Team Bail Group FTW.

    Edit: The thingy

They originally had certain looks only be available by crafting (and getting the recipe for it was a bitch sometimes) but they eventually unlocked nearly every armor template for use as vanity. From what little I've gleaned from the forums, it seems they are going with a template system similar to TERA, either by crafting a template or obtaining the template in a dungeon, and then changing the look of the armor completely, destroying the old look. The thing they mentioned about memory is likely to shoot down all the people that want a toggle so they can see the armor you're actually wearing cause immersion.

I've read through most of this thread and some of the random complaint thread before it became a broken record and the only thing I've wondered is, I wonder what the Japanese are complaining about.

The Japanese and English complaints are actually in sync most of the time.

And yet they don't listen to them?

Joking aside, I'm a bit shocked since back in V1 weren't they about night and day from each other according to Reinheart?

ENGLISH GENERAL DISCUSSION, LOOSELY TRANSLATED JAPANESE GENERAL DISCUSSION, OR BOTH

I believe any base for replayability when it comes to content requires it to first be fun and then challenging. With this in mind content is never truly consumed. Rewards are mandatory so I feel you will always have that disparity in terms of completion and actual pay out, but this isn't always a bad thing. I simply believe it should never be the emphasis when creating content. In order to achieve content that is not consumed faster than it's created, developers need to start by creating content with true staying power. A great way, but far from the only way, to do this is through user generated content.

To every extent all content at this point should in some way be user generated. If it's not creating custom assets, it's creating challenges and threats made by other players. Look and reason, why do people religiously play first person shooters? It is indeed a different genre of game, but they play it because they feel challenged and it brings the player back over and over again on the same limited 8 maps with the same weapons doing the same thing. The satisfaction of overcoming or winning where you perceive it matters is very rewarding in itself.

But why do MMOs have to be any different? PVP is a good example of user generated content, obviously each game should have their checks and balance as overbearing and abusive pvp turns a large number of players away. Still, there are many other ways to achieve the very same thing without the addition of PVP.

Most MMOs are not very creative with content or it's delivery. It may be a challenging dungeon or a battle. but once you have acquired the rewards from it or you're forced to run the content so many times it becomes less fun and more of a chore.

It's possible to create long lasting, challenging, fun content that will carry relevancy for the entirety of your game, but I see the above statement as an excuse to continue creating "hit it and quit it" themed gaming experiences. Obviously fun is subjective, so the course and style will largely depend on your target audience.

This game has more assholes than normal. Maybe SE planned to make them quit. They are not needed anyway (except for their subscription).

Can't answer that since I wasn't involved in 1.0 much, but the Japanese's complaints were very similar to English's during the beta. Of course I'm disregarding the thousands of retarded topics that the English forum has.

No one will ever be pleased at FFXIV.

Lets all just quit right now and teach Yoshi-P a lesson.

Yeah basically the concept of CT gearing our alternate classes has been thrown by the wayside. Just consider it an extra one piece of gear per week to replace your Darklight, but by the time you get a handful of CT pieces you'll probably have full i90 anyway so whatever.

The fact that they're increasing the myth tome cap in the same patch kind of puts the nail in CT's coffin as well.

It'll be....nice for people who can't do coil and possibly a fun distraction for those that do but depending on how long the actual event takes and how much fuckupery people encounter with the other 2 DF parties I think a lot of people are just gonna get the first piece that drops for them that they can use and call it a week rather than run it over and over looking for one specific piece.

Especially if they wind up putting 10+ items in a single chest like in AK, fuck that I'll take what I can get and call it a week unless the event is reasonably brisk and fun to do.

this, I may do CT for that purpose. There is possibility that the crafted pvp gear be needing them IV melds! Or better yet pvp materia

Why would SBing ilvl 70 be so appealing?

Idk what materia prices are like on your server but no TIV materia here is as valuable as 9x philo items, nvm the fact that you can end up with elemental garbage.

If the ilvl70 shit gives the new PVP materias it'll prob be worth it. Also # of philo mats per synth is being reduced. Some of the T4 are currently approx = to 9x philo mat, and I can only imagine philo mats tumbling further.

(SBing ilvl70 is currently a loss tho, yes)

It'll probably go back up once demand in 2.1 appears for new pvp gear melding. But yeah IV materia is kind of a loss atm, being barely 150K for vit/crit IV materia.

I'm sure people will be wanting HQ pvp gear with all the melds to be all hardcore in pvp one way or another.

Call me crazy but I would expect PvP materia would only come from converting PvP gear much like DoH/DoL materia.

If it's added to the pool of potential results for all combat gear I'd be quite annoyed tbh considering how random it is already.
