To me they cast Stewart's Professor X, Jackman's Wolverine, Romijn's Mystique, and Janssen's Jean Grey just right. The rest felt like it was forced to grow on you. Especially Rogue. Christ, if they do a new trilogy, PLEASE do her character justice. Ditto for Cyclops.

They got the stuffy Scott Summers down pat with Marsden. And Ian Mckellan's Magneto was great. To their credit they made the obvious casting choices for the times with Storm and Beast.

The problem is they gave him nothing to work with. We don't get to see the leadship from Scott that should rival Captain America.

How Mystique is featured prominently over Jean Grey is beyond me. As much as I want another good X-Men movie, I'd rather watch this crash and burn so they consider starting over with mystique not an important character with her ability to...look like other people.

She's such an unimportant part of the mutant universe. It's ridiculous.

To be fair, most moviegoers have no idea who Jean Grey is, or how important she is, given how X3 butchered her. But they do know Jennifer Lawrence. And honestly, Psylocke really has no business being there either, other than being eye candy.

Also dislike how, as some of you already mentioned, they're portraying Cyclops and Jean as kids that need to be groomed, protected, band baby-sat. I would hope that they're using this film to launch them into being the real leaders of future movies, but that would be giving them too much credit. They're probably just going "Fans like these guys, so let's just stuff them in, doesn't matter how."
