TIL How do movie trailers/films from competing studios work together. Like, how can FOX show their trailer with Disney/Marvel's movie, considering their animosity. After a little Google-Fu, it seems it's the theaters who decides when and where to show the trailer.

If studios were allowed to control pre movie trailers all you'd ever see is their own stuff so yeah lol. Theaters want to advertise the products they will be showing.

Fun fact. To air a single trailer pre movie can cost studio in a range of $25,000 - $100,000 per showing.
