Obligatory self aggrendizing review.

The movie was okay. Not great, but not terrible either. Felt too long for the story it was trying to tell.

Horrible. HORRIBLE wirework for any character that "flew" or levitated.

Wolverine cameo was welcome, but ultimately unnecessary to the overall plot. The only purpose I could gather from that, was to introduce Jean to Logan and create a love rivalry between him and Cyclops. But she's a fucking kid. So there's that. Pedo-rine.

Beast jumping around was shit tier. The actor should have taken ape lessons from Andy Sirkis.

The actress playing Storm was p.good imo.

I take back what I said about Angel's wing design, the posters and some camera angles do not do the wings justice.

Apocalypse's matter manipulation was well used, but the character didn't feel as sinister as what we know from cartoons or imagined when reading comic books. Isaacs does best with what he got.

Psylocke was so-so.

Caliban cameo was a nice touch.

Magneto's motivations were pretty clear. At one point I thought that the daughter he had was gonna be Lorna, but nope. Some rando kid named Nina. Also, when Quicksilver is getting shit stomped by Apoc, and Q looks up at Magneto, the whole scene looked like Return of the Jedi final fight. For a second there I thought Quicksilver would yell ouy "Father. Help me." but nope, they pulled out just in time.

Also, once again. I don't understand where do these writers get the idea that Jean has Phoeenix Force? That shit came from outter space. It's not something she has within her. She has the capacity to wield it, but that's about it.

Anyway, don't waste the price of full ticket. Go watch it during matinee.

The Wolverine cameo was to set things back up for the 90s films general structure. DoFP means they can change things, and having this scene explicitly makes Origins non-canon.

Everyone here is making it out to be way worse than it actually was. I saw it tonight and I thought it was really good and this is from someone who grew up reading the comics and watching the 90's cartoon. Age of Apocalypse is my favorite X-men storyline after Dark Phoenix. Sure, there were parts of it that were bad but that's the thing. When they adapt stories from comics they never live up to our expectations. I think that's why the first two X-men movies are so well liked. They weren't based on any storyline from the comics. We were free to enjoy seeing our favorite characters in new adventures.

What I liked: Apocalypse's character. I don't get why people hate his look so much. He looked like he should if it were real life. Imagine if they had made him look exactly, and I mean exactly like he looks in the comics. It would have looked ridiculous and casual movie goers who know nothing about the comics would not have accepted it. I thought he felt menacing. Not so much as in the source material but what are you going to do?! Cast one of the bigger WWE wrestlers who's only acting experience is a play they did in elementary school? I also liked his voice changes. There was the calm, confident voice when he was normaly speaking. Then there was the deep, reverberating one when he was mad. He had good speeches throughout the movie too and they were written very well.

Quicksilver's stole the movie again. :D They outdid themselves with the speedster scene this time.

Any scene with Nightcrawler. He had some great lines.

"The third one is always the worst." FUCKING LOL!!

Magneto's conflict within himself. Fassbender killed it in those scenes.

Olivia Munn working it in Psylocke's comic costume. Yum.

The whole opening sequence. It set things up really well.

Wolverine in feral mode. HOLY SHEET o_o

What I didn't like:

Mystique as the hero all mutants look up to and the leader of the team. Mystique has always been the villain in the comics and she will always be a villain in my mind.

Storm in Egypt. Why is she even there? After Logan reset the timeline DoFP she should be at the school.

Sophie Turner as Jean. Her performance was flat and emotionless.

Nightcrawler not being able to teleport through a electric fence. Who the fuck came up with that idea?

Magneto not being the one to kill Apocalypse.

Psylocke escaping at the end seemingly with revenge on her mind. She is suppose to be one of the good guys.

Was pretty good, I liked DoFP better, but my mom seemed to like it better then DoFP, she was surprised as fuck though that Sansa was in it I did get her to LOL hard when I asked her if she thinks at any point Jean will tell them that Winter is Coming.

Well, she's introduced as a bodyguard with a coat and dual wield, so Apocalypse says: "hey I'm gonna give armor to all of my horsemen, but I feel you'll look hotter in your panties!"

I mean, there is a reason why that Psylocke was dressed like so - she was a ninja. To completely remove that element and just have Olivia dress like that felt so cheesy and gratuitous.

While I don't think it was necessarily a bad movie, I still left the theater disappoint.

I already knew what Apocalypse would look like because trailers, but holy shit, he was done no justice. Horrible, IMO.

Mystique had Wolverine at the end of DoFP, but apparently turned him over to Stryker/Weapon-X anyways? That whole sequence was completely useless to the plot and it made no sense in the context of the last movie.
