Been trying to log into my router with no success. Googling the address to type in, gives me a router login to try, but ends up directing me to an Arris router (which I've never even heard of)

do an ipconfig while connected to your router and punch in the ip address of the default gateway.
Won't be home till Monday, but will give it a shot, thanks
I am no longer. I can afford $25/month :D
Not the best net, but still x10000 better than 1 bar of signal from the neighbors
hmm, I don't have arrisi though. Or did they take over netgear? Even the page that does come up, the router name and all that other stuff don't match mine in the slightest
what log in are you using? the newer netgears use instead of the ip

It's an old netgear. I've had it since about 2005 or 2006. I've been able to get into it many times before, but the last time I actually did was over 2-3 years ago. The link provided is a no go as well.
You said that you have your own Internet service now. Did someone come to your place and install anything? For example, did they connect another device to your router that you're going through?
As for Googling the address, Melena is right in that you shouldn't do that, as your configuration may be unique. There is no single static IP that must be used in all cases, even if a standard is generally adhered to. (My home network, for example, has an IP that I began using after calculating how many devices I'd want to permit access to.) Using ipconfig from the command line and then connecting to the gateway IP in your browser is the way to go.
Nevermind; I'm a tard. My laptop has been connected directly to the modem. Only my ipod, uncle's laptop, and nintendo DS are connected to the router @.@
I figured it would be something like that.
If there's a spare spot, and you want to revisit the familiar lands of customization that you were used to, just reconnect your laptop to the router.
