Pc surround?

I have on-board surround support and i was wondering what I should do about purchasing two more speakers for the surround. I already have a 4.1 surround connected to my mobo which is just a front and rear input, but the rear 2.1 is frankly complete garbage.


Wanna reccomend me either individual plug and play speakers, 2 good ones, or a 2.1 setup worth using that isnt exactly bank breaking?

Don't know if this is an option, but my PC is hooked up via HDMI to my receiver that has 7.1 surround.

If that is available to you, then do that. Right click on your speaker icon, select Playback Devices, and pick your receiver as the default device. Then configure it at 5.1, or 7.1, whatever you want. When I don't want surround sound, I just disconnect the HDMI and it goes back to 2.1., plug it back in, goes to 7.1 etc, plus I can play using my 46" Samsung LED.

What for you would be "bank breaking?" That would help a lot.

I've used that set on my desktop for awhile, never had any real complaints (though I use my actual home stereo setup in the living room for serious movie watching and whatnot)

Mixing and matching speaker sets isn't the best idea, you'd generally want to have all the satellite speakers be the same design.

Well, I already have two bose speakers that aren't exactly in production anymore.

My dad kind of went and bought this for me, so guess i'll use this and my bose speakers.
