it isn't PI but i can kinda see why the flag was thrown. the dude is clearly draped over the shoulder, but if you watch any video ro gif you can tell pretty clearly he fails to / ensures that he does not impede progress in any way. thats harder to realize in real time as a ref. ref sees a dude making that kinda contact (despite it not being really interfering in any way) they are gonna throw the flag 9 times out fo 10 just on instinct.

shouldve been picked up after looking at it but the nfl doesnt have much of anything in place for that to happen.

then earlier in the ravens vikings game, baltimore was awarded something like 15 yards on a PI call that was really more like illegal contact on the game winning drive. pitta is held around 6 yards off the LOS and flacco doesnt realize this, instead throwing the ball to where pitta should end up once the ball gets there. instead it's intercepted, but called back because greenway was grabbing pita. it was the wrong call and a simple review would have changed the penalty (still negating any INT and offering first down, but with at least 10 yards of difference).

the other week we had a flag picked up when it shouldnt have been. where are all the flags that are picked up because they should be picked up? at some point refs need to be able to rely on video review to either back up or correct their gut instincts. ESPECIALLY in the last minutes of games like this.
