JPs do things weirdly. Joined a VD pick up group made by JPs. WHM DRG MNK BRD COR PLD. Damage was fine but slow. MNK couldn't shed hate so not sure what his deal was, had 119 Spharai though. He matched me in damage but he had to keep turning when he pulled hate. BRD was doling out Minnex2 Mambox2, not quite sure why, I think this led to our wipe. We got it down to 33% until it started to wipe my shadows with 700 dmg Banishgas followed up by 2k Arrogance Incarnate without Scherzo. Not sure why JP brds do Mambo/Scherzo, seriously. But these guys have Anehara Sabers and DMII Earrings so maybe there's something to it, i dunno.
JPs (especially PUGs) have a habit of being very conservative with how they play so they put on layer upon layer of insurance, the top priority is always victory over speed, so when you join English PUGs you generally have people ineptly trying to emulate what people that actually know what they're doing with brainless zerg strategies without any attempt to understand why they work, whereas JPs avoid that and just try to assume the worst will happen. This leads to what we've seen several times over the years, where English Linkshells tend to clear stuff first and big linkshells continue to do so the fastest while the English PUGs try to copy them and fail, while JP PUGs are clearing it regularly once they figure out the general gist of the fight.
That doesn't really answer my concern. They appear to have gear from wins but their BRD was doing Mambo/Minnex2, the only DD was me and a Spharai MNK and we had no protection agains Arrogance Incarnate(was doing 1600-2000+) and I had no Scherzo so often I died, while MNK lived(died towards the end) and MNK had no way to erase their hate causing them to take hate from PLD after ~10 minutes. Not sure what strategy they were going for tbh.
Sounds like their brd was a fucking moron. I dont know how you plan to hit VD without madrigal, not that EV is the most evasive, but having madrigal drop just on normal hurt my accuracy quite a bit.
Well, perhaps their DM gear was from a group where the other two pts were pulling these guy's weight. And maybe they got Anehera sabers cause EVA/DEF+ might actually help vs HM. Since he deals largely physical DMG. Whereas vs EV, eva/def are lagrely pointless against the thing that typically kills you. Arrogance Incarnate. Maybe they were more afraid of chant spam at <25%?
Not sure if this would be the case without mads, but HM is way squishier than EV. Maybe they killed it before the MNK hit the hate cap. OR he died and got a free hate reset. lol.
Oh, and did the PLD ever cover the MNK? It's really useful for lowering a DD hate, and increasing the PLD own.
I was wondering if coming SMN would be better for parties than COR, specifically for the Elvaan. I have COR ranged accuracy gear out of the arse but I still have problems hitting the EV without sushi. Even then, I need hunter's roll which requires me to forgo an extra roll on the casters to keep it up. I was thinking with SMN, I would have an additional person to absorb arrogance, I can keep either eva down or Tidal Roar up, and use Grand Fall/ HS with my high avatar MB set. I could also keep Earthern Ward up for the party. What do you guys think?
In your case I would say SMN is better for at least EV since she tends to dispel buffs with some TP moves. The safety net provided by EA/ward and your frequency in casting them (vs trying to keep up dispelled rolls, ugh) will be beneficial for Arrogance Incarnate if its at all an issue.
Roll Hunters on the DD problem solved they probably need the acc anyways. With Preludes sushi hunters roll you shouldn't have any acc issues.
Evasion down won't land on any of the AA's I've tried it on. Also your MAB BP's will end up being shitty and physicals even worse. Talking like 600 damage tops for MAB BPs much less for physicals(this on difficult). Where as last stands should be doing at least 1k. At least for our group taking a smn felt like a step back.
If you are asking about D/VD you are not going to land any debuffs without Seraphicaller besides Lunar Roar/Pavor Nocturnus. The only BPs that can't miss or being resisted are Nether Blast and Night Terror. Assuming you have 42 seconds recast and basic gear that's only about 50,000-65,000 damage over a period of 30 min (1,1k~ Night Terror to 1,500~ with Mana Cede and I'm also counting Odin at start + Astral Conduit).
Unfortunately, because the events have not been that exciting, you rarely found parties with a COR and BRD for this. I've been seeing PLD, MNK x2 / RNG x 2, RDM, WHM or SCH, and COR or BRD.
I think some debuffs still land (elegy etc.), just SMN's don't work.
Whm in this group with a harp/horn/dagger bard can land slow on VD galka.
oh boy half duration slow II once an hour.
Well they didn't make AA's immune to anything except Stun/Terror and I think sleep, so in that regard, it is a step in the right direction. The limiting factor is magic accuracy though since on VD, the mobs are basically, what ilvl130+? So it's basically going to be like trying to enfeeble Kirin at 75, relatively speaking. What shocks me is their choice to give harder versions a blanket Damage Taken-% instead of just simply higher stats. Actually now that I think about it, they probably will have to do this moving forward to kind of 'simulate' level correction based damage penalties. The only alternative is to otherwise give them monstrous HP to compensate for the ludicrous amounts of damage players can deal to higher level mobs w/o level correction in place.
They aren't immune to sleep, they're just extremely resistant.
