I indeed made for multiple reasons.
The thing that I don't understand about their approach to Housing is how much work they put into it. SE has said that the development on housing alone was nearly equivalent to an expansion on its own. If that's the case, wouldn't you want most of your player base to have access to that content when you first launched it? Especially after putting so much hype into it?
The Aestetician quest is going to be more crowded than the hood braid shop on the first of the month. I should have logged in Limsa m(_ _)m
Dear SE,
Stop putting up the Play button if your servers aren't up.
Actually I think you're misreading it. I'm saying farming gil [and apkallu eggs / fire clusters as examples of tedius gil farming in XIV / XI] sucks if you don't enjoy your time playing to get it.
It's work.
If you do things that you find fun and get gil, you'll eventually get the payoff you want and enjoy your entire time playing the game. Look at how Valve handles this with TF2 and DotA II. You play the game for the game's sake, and get extra stuff by playing more.
Conversely people are proposing 'Just spend your days farming gil so you can have something fun later.'
That's true Aerin. But i think their whole approach to this game now has been to test things on a small sample of the player base to make sure it actually works before fully releasing it. All i know is that housing had better work flawlessly when it goes consumer level.
Really, the price for small housing isn't that bad, and with some effort the majority of FCs can grab one. Anything beyond a small house though is legitimately outrageous. SE decided that housing should be a long-term goal, and while that's fine, I severely dislike their intent behind it (to intentionally delete more gil out of the game).
I never really seen the hype behind Housing, outside of a handful of players and the RP community.
The thing is, they'll most likely lower the prices of housing after "RMT" gil gets neutered, which makes getting a house now rather questionable.
World is currently full.
Players in queue: 27,962.
Edit: Then it let me in a few seconds later, so IDK.
We have been able to run around in JP server for the past 40 minutes, but can't even get close to logging into our NA server. :'<
Edit: NVM!!!
I'm in. Primal data center master race.
It certainly does look like there's a misunderstanding in this discussion.
As you said, the supposedly most efficient ways to make money have been rendered inefficient as time went on, which does, indeed, create a gap between players who managed to milk them for what they were worth and players who are trying to make money right now, as the currently available ways aren't as efficient as before.
Furthermore, the price drop of tome-craft items also contributes to this, as these were a way to make money while capping Myth tomes. On most servers, these had already been rendered somewhat obsolete, though I'd wager that the adjustments to the amount of items needed for a single item synthesis will be the final nail in the coffin.
As a result, all that's left now is simple farming/converting, which makes the current issue more apparent, as it's somewhat rare for farming to be considered a fun activity. Not that I mind; in general, I'd simply consider it a necessary evil. MMORPGs everywhere have certain aspects which would simply be considered "work" - more work results in more gil which eventually earns the player more prestige, it's as simple as that. With farming being the only way to make money, however, it's way too one-sided; options such as making money while capping Myth tomes or comparable examples would be desirable. Of course, it's nothing that would allow you to basically swim in money; just something to pile up some money, week after week. I think that's something this game really needs (compare money rewards for rep-dailies in WoW for instance).
Right now, I'm really hoping that the new dailies will pump lots of money into the economy. With WP being the only other alternative, I'd fear for the economy with all the gil that housing is going to drain, which is a major issue, as you point out.
So Mor Dhona is... different.
Oh god, the quest for CT access requires you to do 2 FATEs =_=
Both of the CT fates last like 5 seconds with all the people there, so hope you don't miss it! could be another half hour before it exists again.
Three Rowena's Tokens for every weapon except shield (1) and sword (2). So basically same prices as Mist.
Extreme Garuda is interesting.
