May have something to do with her stun/silence immunity buffs. She seems to be designed to make it impossible to avoid spells outside of dodging

She turns to face you while casting, so far she's the only mob in the game that does this

And its awesome. I was raging at first, swearing I was LOSing her until I finally watched her swap around and hit me. I enjoy the extra challenge, but it makes me wonder if they've always had the tech to allow for mobs to do that, (implying that they allowed us to LOS as "clever use of game mechanics) or if it was some new tech just perfected prior to 2.1.

Pretty sure they've always had it. This is why when mobs charge a conal attack you're able to move out of it without them turning to face you.

Well no. I mean I'm wondering if the new "turn to face you regardless of LOS" mechanic is new because SE couldn't figure out how to program it initially, or if they simply wanted to hold it off as a "tougher" mechanic for later content.

I thought the Flayer in AK did that too, but maybe I'm misremembering... or maybe that's just to Canker.

Canker is aoe isn't it? So he doesn't need to see you. Could still always los his single targets.

Yeah canker he just turns around but you can LOS it if you're fast enough. Its pretty quick, though.

So uh, for all you out there who wanted to get super-technical with your macros but were thwarted by silly things like "healing when <t> is enemy will instead target self"...

    Spoiler: show

Unchecking this might help? Or does this do something else? Waiting on an unspoiled node for a couple minutes so can't check right this moment.

Edit: Ok I have no idea what this does.

Same. I thought it would be something actually helpful, like targeting the closest mob if you don't have a target, but... nope.

Apparently the mages in the Level 30 gladiator quest were changed too. They all turned to face me.

Quick related question: I made the following macro for cure:

    /ac cure <mo>
    /ac cure <tt>
    /ac cure <t>
    /ac cure <me>

But in some cases, it still seems to cure me although one of the previous lines should have been a valid target. Anyone knows why? Or if the game will target me by default if it finds a non-valid target and cancels the macro?

If you're targeting a tank hitting an enemy with nothing moused over, you will cure yourself with that macro.

First line that is valid is <tt>, target's target is enemy so defaults to "cast on self".
It's a problem when trying to make macros like that.

Yep, saw someone get one in town before. Materia prices should come down a bit because of that, which is good and bad, depending on if you spiritbonded for gil. >.>

That's what I feared. No way to change that behavior I guess, that's what you were mentioning in your post above, right?
    So I'll keep only <mo> and <t>

    Thanks

Where do you get the cores for the starlight event? Is it a FATE?

Yeah. Like the summer fate with the bombs. Near Horizon, Moraby Drydocks, and (can't remember where for Grid). Get hit by the treant's snowball attack to be able to damage imps. 2-3 Gold fates will get you all the holiday items; 30 ice per Gold fate. If you're like me and only had the reindeer suit, 2 Golds (60 ice total) is enough.
