Something you have to do to unlock the recipes?

So I just got my first small taste of "real high-end" PvP last night in this game;

I reached PvP Rank 15, mostly in random solo queues for the most part on my SCH or with friends, and I actually saved up enough marks to pick up a complete Warwolf set (ilvl70) PvP healing gear and accessories. I was in the Wolve's Den and I guess someone saw me and asked if I wanted to join their dedicated PvP Linkshell, so I said sure why not. Shortly afterwards they started organizing a 4v4 setup and invited me to heal for one of the teams. As soon as we entered the arena, I knew right away I was totally out of my league -- my teammates were all outfitted in full Direwolf with some Hellwolf thrown in. I voiced my concerns and they told me not to worry, since the healer on the other team was apparently similarly geared and ranked to me (Oh.. ok..)

What ensued for the next few hours was some of the most intense back-and-forth arena matches I've had the pleasure of experiencing. Everyone knew their role and played well, we had strategies that we mixed up to throw the other team off balance and so did our opponents. As a healer, I had to keep an eye on a ton of elements going on at once in the match, while still managing to out-maneuver the Hellwolf MRD sprinting towards me with an axe (Oh my god do they hurt...) We never purposefully "win-traded" either, since it seems the team were in fact quite evenly matched and no team let the other win. Going back to solo-queue with a bunch of random people in ilvl55 AF gear complaining that they can't do their PvE rotations on moving targets... was so... boring in comparison.

I guess what I am trying to say is the PvP has a ton of potential in this game, and it's just a little sad that it's all hindered by a really poor & bare bones matchmaking system and heavy non-linear grind that kind of deters new players from sticking around. Regardless, one day I'll hopefully be able to get that Elktail set Yugl posted above! :D

@ Cresc: LS 4s rock. Scheduling group compositions like yours is rare (Simply because having certain R30s can stack the odds), so we usually stick to PVE gear with limited PVP action use (Healers only get purify lol). Still good fun.

Have another question. Is i70 pvp accessories from vendor better than i90 PVE gear? Still only rank 12 so can't buy the i90 pvp gear yet but have seals to spend.

Not gonna lie, I'm just interested in the pretty gear for now (feel free to hate), so I just twinked my BRD with that i43/Lv40 Aetherial bow that I got by chance, wear my old VIT-melded i70 crafted accessories so I get max survivability along with my max damage, and go do solo Lv40 PvP for points. I don't think I would be a desired member of a real PvP group. I've only done 3 rounds since the patch (all top-DPS wins, whatever that's worth, woo!), but that doesn't mean I'm not curious about the mechanics and such.

If the queues don't improve I'll be doing that too. PVP queue system is incredibly broken.

PvP just depresses me now; keep getting matches like this where I'm the top DD on PLD and it's not because people are slept or anything. Somehow we still won so I guess I shouldn't be complaining but fuck... I also have 0 morale gear.
