Couldn't decide if this belonged here or in OF Fail but, wow people get super-pissed about wintrading.

That bard is a member of my shell. He's not joking when he said he thought his keyboard was on fire lol. I think he had roughly 5h(?) sleep over Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun lol. It was kind of funny watching him pull that off.
jeez OF posters are so mad
and terrible
Is there much point melding up gear for 40 cap? I'm rank 8 I think so I'm going to be spending a fair bit of time capped to flesh out my gear and skills.
I'm an i91 Bard and was quite happy to just be synced. But then I started seeing a lot people in fully melded pre-41 gear. Mostly JP as it turns out, they seem to have a fairly solid base of PvP happening on Tonberry. 5 minute queues on BRD solo aren't bad right? Basically I just... feel a bit gimp looking at the effort that's gone into some of their gear sets.
Also: Archer or Bard for 40 cap?
Edit: actually I found an answer

Just be aware you can burn a ridiculous amount of leves and still not get anything.
I got the Lv40 pink PvP bow completely by accident in one of my required leves for Atma book out in Whitebrim, so after that I did about 60 leves in Whitbrim going for more 40-cap pink gear and wound up with a good chunk of the nice PvP stuff (knuckles/sword/wand/skirt/coif/bracers), but sadly only the bow + bracers were actually useful for BRD. Bonus points, both of them actually rolled crit instead of something like acc/ss.
To clarify something that post you linked doesn't mention... the good Lv40 pink stuff can drop out of any Lv40 leve's silver chest. I did GC leves in Whitebrim, but it probably doesn't matter where you go, unlike what that person seemed to indicate.
It doesn't really matter if you go BRD or ARC, 'cause BRD gets most(all?) of the cross-class skills you'll probably want. The main draw to ARC is that it allows you to keep your PvE and PvP bars separate.
What skills are you getting that is worthwhile that bard can't? Bard has a minor dex boost over archer and still has bfb, rs, invigorate, ir, and hawk.
I can't say I really thought about that part. They do get most/all of the cross-class skills you'd want. I mainly did it so I could keep my action bars separate. I'll edit the post above.
Going ARC would let you set Swiftcast + Stoneskin I guess? lol Virus too.
Your crystal gives you about 8% extra DEX (Basically, half a HE for the entire match) and extra VIT. You also gain Foe's requiem to pad SCH DPS. The only BRD gains are defensive actions (SS/Virus/EFE/BB) and MS. None of these seem worthwhile since most BRDs aren't cool enough to use the defensive actions during the match anyways.
Seriously? SE touts all this shit about "Classes are for soloing, jobs are for parties", and it's BARD that gets more VIT between the two? wtf.
Sigh, you guys are punching holes in all my fun plans. Now I have to figure out some other way to deal with wanting to have a separate action bar for PvE and PvP. What do you guys do about that?
I have a hotbar saved to the side that has PVP skills/extra actions needed and just move them around.
MRD with 110 axe is so broken in my rank bracket (Rank 23). ~90% win ratio after ~100 matches. I feel dirty. (but not dirty enough to stop)
Without at least a partially premade party PvP is a complete bore and general waste of time.
Queue times are terrible, half the time I see at least 1 person in my party get the achievement for doing their first PvP match. So many healers just cast protect and sit there during the (obnoxiously and unnecessarily long) waiting period before the match, don't even bother to stoneskin themselves much less anyone else.
90% of the time I'm the only person going after the WHM/BLM, 100% of the time when I'm the healer I get immediately zerged down.
Sleep DR resets way too fast, shouldn't reset at all in PvP given how OP it is to begin with.
Once in an Ultramarine Moon I get pit against a group that isn't premade/coordinated and the match lasts more than 5 seconds and it actually is kind of fun.
Unfortunately no one cares about PvP (why should they) so I'm stuck just solo queuing when I'm horrendously bored hoping for some amount of amusement. My hopes are generally in vain.
If I could find a group to trade wins with I'd go for it in a heartbeat, this shit is terrible.
That's 30s and 40s in a nutshell. My solo 50s are usually quad 30+ rankers...most usually have at least enough brain cells to function. Doing 4v4s though...never want to go back to anything than that from how fast you can move along, I should be able to "casually" hit 40 this week now that I'm close to 38. Make a pvp linkshell and do battle. PvP is for vanity anyways.
Without a coil 2 static, there's nothing to do in the game that isn't middling about-busywork. Doing 1 expert roulette every day is more than enough to cap solds, everything else is meaningless filler.
I was actually hoping to get some entertainment out of it -_-
I'm not likely to go and grind through a whole bunch of leves, I've got better things to do, more interested in doing the Boarskin maps actually. The stupid thing is I was farming them daily for a while there, but I wasn't doing PvP and used all the gear for easy seals. I did make a Tonberry Couch and Chair from the fox hides though, so not all is lost.
Yeah aside from Animus grind I totally agree with you, and it could certainly be argued that books are "middling about-busywork". Did most of my PvP on the weekend while fishing, after I'd ground dailes for Myth, and was running out of ideas on what to do. Certainly not a top priority, but from the sounds of it my server group has a much healthier PvP population. I got a fair bit of entertainment out of it.Without a coil 2 static, there's nothing to do in the game that isn't middling about-busywork.
What effects the EXP/Marks you receive from matches?
(aside from obviously winning or losing)
