Sounds stupid since PVP marks are part of the reward. There's no alternative use since I anticipate that most will stick to Frontlines over arena.

On the one hand, people who spam wolves den just for the cool armor won't be in the pool anymore.
On the other hand, people who spam wolves den just for the cool armor won't be in the pool anymore, so I suppose that takes queue times for that from "never" to "half past never".
So, any opinions of frontlines from people who
A) Hated/didn't care about Wolves Den?
B) Liked Wolves Den?
I sat in Q for about an hour of just 69-71 out of 72 all morning and then gave up. Pretty frustraiting if this is how it's going to go. They need to add a penalty for people constantly AFKing when it's a 72 man instance.
Frontlines is pretty fun with friends, but yeah queue can eat a dick
I really hated Wolves den, but I'm really enjoying Frontlines with friends. Nothing is more fun kiting a melee around while they melt. Oddly enough, I only had 1 round of the 71/72 waiting game.
I did a few runs:
- minor, yet very annoying issue is the queue system. It's nothing new, but with 72 people is gets unbearable very fast.
- I had a lot of issues with targeting, but that's just me and my lack of PvP experience.
- great environment, a lot of atmosphere and the addition of PvE elements is refreshing
- my impression is that people will have to learn to stick and work together - which is good. When you think of it, there are no stealthed rogues or cat druids, no mesmers or engineers, so you're not allowed that kind of solo gameplay I have often seen in WoW or GW2.
- again, group play. Most people being on jobs means you can't take down anyone if a healer is alive, etc.
I'd gladly spam this over and over. If they just fix the queue system
Been enjoying it a lot so far, the queue is the only real annoying thing though, I got constant 71/72 today, maybe around 17 times? Pretty fucking ridiculous. Pretty much just gonna spam this while its active, I'm now at the point where I'm used to the whole queue thing now, I don't bother clicking commence till around 5 sec left, still annoying nonetheless.
So now that they are fixing the queuing system, Frontlines is gonna be legit as fuck.
I'm gonna save up 20,000 seals just for that Ninja gear.
Frontlines looks fun as fuck.
Nice! What do they plan on fixing? So now that they are fixing the queuing system, Frontlines is gonna be legit as fuck.
Also, Maelstrom is clearly the underdog because all the wise guys are Twin Adders and all the cool kids are Immortal Flames.
Queue trolls can't stop the whole thing now.
Starting Friday, when your window pops and you accept, you immediately go to the field. If someone abandons, everyone else gets in. Missing players will need to be filled like with dungeons.
Next week, it seems that the base frontlines signup will basically have an auto-JIP attached, and the system will automatically add members, so you won't even need the party leader to do anything after that.
I do wish they had made withdraw have a 5 minute cooldown, or found some other way to punish queue trolls.
They also need to implement a queue pause for people in cutscenes. I missed a MSQ CS, and the back half of the Baderon delivery moogle finish, and they aren't in the inn CS viewer.
Pretty much me, now that I've tried it a couple times. I also feel lost for job choice (never learned to play pvp healer properly, PLD I feel weak), and most matches I played when people would assign "A left, B mid, C right", half the people in a given party would kind of wander off wherever so whenever other teams attacked a point we were supposed to hold, it was like 8v4.
I'd say my only other complaint is that since morale does nothing, wolf marks don't really help me get anything that's better for it. Just vanity. Makes me feel like I "should" be doing hunts instead.
I got stuck in a party with 5 tanks and no healers, so yeah. But we did manage to win by moving on points that were vacated, and rushing center mobs at the end when the score was close.
Always kill healers and squishy DPS first. Dogpile your target (use marks). Binds and slows are vital.
Try to get out of the mentality that Frontline is something you grind in order to get a gear reward. Frontline is a game, winning is the reward!
I ran with a fireteam of 4 friends, MRD/MNK/BRD/SCH. Along with some rando pug support, our spearhead was always enough to break and capture a point or defend one. Zone control is the name of the game, kite and kill overextending enemies and don't overextend yourself.
Most people are slow at picking targets or try to spam overpower/flare or get scared and run when they're being attacked. It's real fun to be part of a pvp veteran squad and cut through a bigger enemy force with no losses. Everything's synced too, makes it that much sweeter.
Oh yeah not saying it isn't fun. Just feels foreign to do something for the sake of it solely being fun in this game.
Now that queuing is being fixed, my main gripe is still the fact that if I ask in ls/fc for people to Frontline with, if 7 people say they'll go, I'll most likely only be able to play with 2 of them. Being limited to GC is fucking stupid.
Has anyone gone back into Wolve's Den since the patch? SE said they adjusted the rewards per match and I'm curious what the new values are now.
I tried queuing a couple of times but the waits were crazy long. People are probably just spamming Frontlines instead.
