Something about the overall balance in Frontlines just bugs me when I sit down and think about it too much. So I just try to knock bitches off places. (My fave will forever be knocking off the entire Maelstrom's mid-team right before Node)
EDIT: Just noticed I had my facetargetting fucked and my PVE set on this whole night of matches fml those niggas weren't gaming me as much as i thought i was just retarded as hell
You don't really need to think too hard about it to realize nothing is balanced about FL.
Any group with a ton of healers is going to dominate the match as long as they're not retarded.
The only reason it doesn't happen is it's hard to find so many people that care to do FL anyway when they should be hunting.
New hobby on WAR in Frontline - load up HP with Defiance and chill below the drop in for either opponent, Tomahawk everyone dropping in on their mount to give them 30sec heavy, piss everyone off, and use cooldowns, stuns, and healing JAs (both MRD and PVP +HP JAs) to just survive as long as possible as a whole crowd gathers trying to put you down. Made it a good 45 seconds in front of Storm this morning and by the end I counted at least 10 players re-mounting to run off after killing me. Storm had no points when it ended and didn't get anything besides their OP back for a couple minutes after that.
LOL so trying that
So is there a definitive list of how scoring works? It looks like 1 point per tick for each flag, but people are claiming modifiers on middle kills depending on OP status, and no points for kills if you knock someone off a cliff.
The most frustrating thing about FL is zoning in to Alliance A with 5 healers, thinking "this match is going to be free money," then watching 3 of them change to tanks.
From earlier in thread (can we get this added to a OP, or is FL sufficient enough to make its own pvp topic?)
Anyone claiming anything else gives points is silly and wrong.
Should also mention this only applies for 72man match. 48man (2 parties) is played to 1200 with all 6 flags live but mid is worth half as many points iirc. 24man (not that I've ever seen it) is only played to 800 and only the 3 outpost flags count.
Was gonna say someone should edit that into OP but this isn't really a FL thread.
We probably should have made a FL thread.
I'll whip one up tonight between matches or tomorrow.
So apparently 2-3 drg using ring of thorns > 8 healers. Shit was funny as hell but damn, died quick.
We weren't exactly being too optimized about the situation, all stacking in the center, and not maintaining the 6 Medica2s, and no soils.
Something I want to play with more another time though, or BLM burn.
I love it when people cluster neatly together, Blast Shot and we'll have the point TYVM.
4 of them were being retarded / not into it / don't play healer / didn't set skills because we just did it spontaneously, so pretty much.
There's more to that scenario (it was more like 1 DRG, 1-2 simultaneous Flares, and us being clumped like idiots) but yes we were bad. The healers who didnt wear VIT died and then the rest of us did.
anyone ever mess around with mass skill speed builds for mnk or mrd/pld in 4v4? wondering if it's got any utility in locking down healers or casters from casting.
I've always valued SS highly in PvP, both for interrupts and just because of the nature of how PvP works.
When fighting something can heal itself/get healed, getting the GCD needed for the killing blow sooner is much more important than having all of your slower hits being slightly stronger (ie. SS vs DET).
I basically gear for PvP in bizarro world, SS is most important follow closely by crit (speed and burst damage kill people, not slow and steady damage) with DET being last on the list.
Quick recap of an old question: What's the accepted accuracy for PvP? I finally got around to putting together a PvP-specific set for my BRD and I fear I've gone under that number (360)
Pretty sure I've only ever seen misses on people with evasion effects (Attunement/Featherfoot) or when I have a blind effect. You can go higher than base to "counter" blind/evasion but I'm not sure it works that way.
For Wolve's Den before ilvlsync came out the cap for melee used to be around 360-370, some people say 363 is the exact amount. Not sure about synced Frontline/Wolve's Den.
I believe I read 361 as the magic number, with 362 ACC I had no misses on a lvl 50 test dummy attacking from the front, with 350-something I was still getting misses.
